I have a serious question and I need a serious answer. I usually follow my instincts but this is too serious without your advice. I have 20k between traditional and Roth TSP. Based on the recent bankers selling their shares like Bank of America I am feeling like I should pull as much money out as possible and buy gold and some more silver. I only have 6k of silver and roughly 3k of gold.

Worst case scenario would the TSP not recover? If it did how long would it take? Would it be better to just hold the silver and gold I have or to buy even more? I am really torn as my financial advisor told me to change my 100% 2050 L Fund into a 85% C fund and 15% S fund. Which I did. At the very least should I return my investment to the 100% L fund which is long term low risk?

I'm honestly looking for answers here and maybe this will help others out in the same situation some day.

>> No.55848911

>>55848865
The L funds are just a mix of of the G,F,C,S&I funds that automatically adjust to favor the less volatile G(treasuries) and F(bonds) funds as you approach the target date. You can look up the various allocations on the TSP website. At 20k you’re probably early in your career so you should be favoring the C,S,I funds with their greater growth potential and not worrying about market shifts. If you can’t figure out how the five options in the TSP work you should in know way be mucking around and just plunk it in the L fund of your retirement date and forget about it.

TSP - Thrift Savings Plan? In a Roth?
Whatever is in the Roth, keep it there. Unless you're 59.5 or older, you'll pay penalties for taking it out. The idea in a Roth is that you have it invested in something that is supposed to grow. It shouldn't be simple savings. It defeats the purpose of having a Roth: tax-free growth.

It kinda makes sense the PM Psy Op of 2020/2021. They wanted more of the population to have some gold/silver for the upcoming turmoil. I have money/crypto/a house paid off in my late 40s. I had no PM at the start of COVID 19, never even registered to buy a gold coin?

Why did I wake up one day in the summer of 2021 and start thing about buying gold. Now we see very sticky inflation and house prices in hot markets rise against rising interest rates. The Canadian CPI came in yesterday at 3.3% compared to the previous month of 2.8%. A half point higher, how does the bank of Canada not raise interest rates. I was talking to a buddy at work and I told him we need to rip the band aid off and the BOC needs to raise the rate by 100 basis points.

He told me rates would be 9% by the end of the 2023, 18 months ago. At the time I called him a fucking idiot.

I'm going to go buy another 10K in maples in the morning.

9% still remain a very bold claim in the current (((monetary system))). The BOC is at 5% and the boat is already leaking from everywhere. Just yesterday i was reading a paper claiming 50% of the leafs who've recently seen their mortgage recalculated (variable with 3y fixed is the norm apparently there) will have to make a choice between their grocery bills and repaying their monthly house loan who just doubled...
How long can this situation last? You can't force your population to have to decide between a roof and a full stomach forever, the dam will break eventually.

Silver is still silver. The one cool piece you have is the bar at the bottom, a canceled design. They scratch the die to mark it as dead, but they put out some bars with the scratches (the grid in this case), and there are ebay buyers who think this is somehow cool and will pay a premium for them (search silver for "canceled"). I don't understand that myself, but there you have it.

The BRICS talking about trading in local currencies across borders is almost a guarantee that they will end up with a gold currency.

Trying to trade with all of their different fiat currencies constantly floating against each other as the various nations inflate at different rates will be impossible.

They could pick one and all use it, but they won't because they don't trust each other and don't want to get rugpulled again. There is no advantage to getting rid of the USD and then using the yuan instead.

They could create a new joint fiat currency, like the Euro, but then they would need to have a governing body that would control the money supply. They aren't going to agree to that kind of loss of control.

The only way for them is gold.

I wish people wouldn't chime in on the brics situation just because it's a popular discussion topic at the moment, nobody seems to comprehend it at all
what brics+ asean and sco are doing is not a public currency or a central bank brics currency, it's a resource backed trade settlement mechanism and Alistair Macleod has gone progressively more grey haired in the past year trying to emphasise this
london paul is also very descriptive on this topic if anyone cares
it emphasises trust in foreign trade and ensures you can't take advantage of fiat for material goods, if you have a trade deficit you make good with your state gold or nobody wants your currency, you can't just run insane deficits any more

Many of us here know that, but what the BRICS nations want versus what they'll get will no doubt go to gold because it simply wields the most power on the global stage. The main banks are already buying a fuck load of gold because they all know it will be the most liquid commodity of them all when this global shift happens. The advantage of this system of mixed commodities is that liquidity will continue if gold ever gets into a rut again.

A gold currency prevents that. Part of why honest money is good. You pay for goods and services with gold. When you run out of gold you must either produce more goods to trade for gold or curtail your buying.

You realize that there have been historical cases of trade currencies (always PMs) circulating with domestic fiat, right? In China and Russia, in fact. So the BRICS can issue a trade currency backed by gold for their international transactions and still have a fiat currency for domestic use. They simply float against each other.

And the BRICS don't have to ban foreign. They can impose premiums on it and adjust as needed.

90% of dealers use that grader vs NGC, PCGS. It's just who we use. I don't think you understand the significance of this coin to a canadian. Most of the gold in these canadian sovereigns came from a local gold rush not to far from where I reside today. This coin put the theme of mineral wealth into the Canadian consciousness at that period of time. These sovereigns were only made for 11 years, and only 4000 or so were made in 1912 or 13. I'm not as optimistic as most that the BRICS meeting will send metals sky high in the short term; we might see them actually dip, perhaps to a significant degree, lest we forget wall street doesn't just dance to the feds tune they buy their bullshit through and through. The populace dissociating gold/silver from being actual money might be the most impressive psyop in history. Even more than the vaxx or white guilt.

Normies value little paper IOUs that are printed nonstop, over a tangible commodity that has served as wealth for thousands of years. It’s almost blackpilling.

So many modern problems are caused by the psychology of the switch. People save less money because their money no longer seems tangible. Goods are designed to be poorly made and disposable, and people accept it since theyre spending ones and zeros, rather than a handful of silver (or a single gold coin) that they worked hard to earn. The intangibility of fiat seems specifically designed to make people want to consoom, since there is little joy in saving. Then the govt creates more debt out of nothing, and private banks create even more, at levels that would seem incomprehensible to the average parasite banker 100 years ago.

And while GDP line go up, its all fueled by government debt and lies, combined with the labor of those working for the fake ious.

Truly the greatest psyop in history

a) coins and PMs have that historical feel to them, especially the old coins - expressing some story via the wear and tear they've collected over time.
b) it's a nice feeling to have control over one's funds, the physical assets of PMs gives some freedom away from banks.
c) as you said makes sense as a means to diversify but no need to go crazy in any investments in my opinion. If you wish to eschew PMs for stocks or crypto by all means and vice versa; those all have arguments for and against your precious shekels.

In crisis situations, like Corona or Ukraine, gold acts anti-cyclic, that means it goes up while everything goes down.
It's a risk reducing hedge to reduce volatility of the portfolio. It's not supposed to make profit, just reduce volatility if something happens.
However, once we hit new all time highs i will sell, as profits from gold selling is tax free in Germany, if you held the gold for at least a year.

I have 5% precious metals, 4% is gold, 1% silver.
Disregard the "gold is money" or "silver to $50 end of the week" schizos.

I don't anticipate a rush into gold due to the upcoming BRICS meeting. If anything, the BRICS will probably try to hold down gold prices for as long as they can so they can stock up. Also, China has shit-loads of dollars and would rather not have them evaporate. If they are smart, and some of them are, they will try to ease out of dollars and into gold without creating a stampede.

The interesting thing is how gold naturally solves their problems in the end.

Keep stacking for the long term. We are riding trends that are thousands of years old. Not for the faint of heart or those with a short attention span.

I agree, but how realistic is this? It's already apparent to plebs with their ears to the ground that the dollar is fugged. Every week it seems like there's news of another nation dropping the dollar for cross boarder settlements, and banks have been stacking hard relative to the recent past. At a certain point you can't maintain the illusion, and any major selling off by either china or japan would send every other nation in the world running for the exit.

You can get ASE's for $28 from Bullion Exchanges. The cheapest rounds I see are $25, so there's not that much of a difference.
You add in that ASE's are the most popular, easiest to sell on the secondary market, should retain some premium and have a half-assed counterfeit measure, they may be worth the extra $

Agreed. Hard to know what is going on behind the scenes. For example, you can bet the USA is bullying everyone they can to keep them in dollars. Japan's arms must be hurting from being twisted. And it may be that the Fed has been able to stomp on the brakes so hard without much political resistance because it is an attempt to fend off de-dollerization.

But the major sell-off WILL come and when it starts it will be an avalanche.

Sometimes I think about whether people would support massive government programs and high state and federal taxes if they were required to pay for them with actual gold and silver.

It seems like first the fed released paper money(freely redeemable into gold and silver of course), then Wilson introduced the ***income tax***, then the fed and banks in their infinite wisdom created tons of cheap debt which caused the depression, then Roosevelt closed the gold window, and then they created all the massive programs, which spawned even more programs.

Back then the welfare state made slightly more sense, since it fairly restrained and was covered by population growth and (more importantly) the population was significantly more homogenous and demographically similar.

It’s no coincidence that Johnson’s “great society” programs corresponded with demonetizing silver coinage, and by that point gold hadn’t been available to the public for 30 years. The younger generation had never lived in a time where gold was money, and existed in a time of great abundance, prosperity, at the height of American power.

Then Ted Kennedy forever changed our immigration laws, and a few years later Nixon closed the gold window. It’s truly surprising things have kept going on for as long as they have, but I suppose gibs focused demographic change takes decades to get to a breaking point. Still surprised it’s gone on as long as it has
