The trick is to multiply your money in some way. The three best vehicles for a normal person are: Roth IRA - max this shit out every time because it is exempt from capital gains tax. Easy 25% numb compounded. Next is a company match pretax 401k. Max that out to the company match limit. That anywhere from 25-100% profit instantly and it lowers your taxable income, easy win even if the market is flat or goes down you make money on the match. Once those two are maxed out you can think about a house to fox your costs as low as you can. Mines 750 including taxes and insurance. That’s forever and I can afford that on a Wendy’s salary. After that have fun invest in whatever because you know what your bills are. Also the govt pays you back in taxes for your property tax in some states like mine, 25% back which is nice but still theft.

yes, 6% pretax w 6% employer match. also paying back a 401k loan (pay yourself back w/ interest - installation fee)...you can take up to 25k loan from yourself penalty free and pay it back. typically is 50% of balance. goal is to build it up to 50k and take out max amount and use to pay off personal debt..have been doing a small form of that.
typically i swing trade and hold a sector that is doing well and sell all of it at its high and reallocate when sector starts to rotate (IE sell gold, buy energy or sell tech buy emerging markets etc. take a look at performance of the funds offered and choose your mix. DCA into those funds and reallocate as needed. pic rel some funds offered by employer.
