Daily reminder that finance is pseudoscientific make believe garbage and capitalism is inherently unstable, exploitative and unsustainable with a built in expiration date. Ever escalating recessions, poverty, debt, wealth inequality, monopolies, worsening labor conditions, disease, pollution, exploitation, slavery, conflict and wars are fundamental, necessary and intended principles of it, NOT glitches. Greed, selfishness, lying, cheating, stealing, competition, conflict, slavery and war and overall evilmaxxing are behaviors highly encouraged and incentivized under capitalism. It is LITERALLY cancer and i dont mean it metaphorically, i mean it literally, it shares the exact same functions and principles as a cancer cell.

Unless every single financier parasite, banker and trader is euthanized and every stock market and bank is burned to the ground, and the status quo completely abolished, the biosphere and all life will extinguished. The higher the "Line god" (GDP) is, the lower life is.

.ca tp sign up
you can open cad and usd accounts through there
their portal eventually takes you to the .com version i think
if you are considering signing up one word of advice: don't be conservative when they ask you want you want to sign up for. they ask you questins like "do you want to use this account to just hold ETFs or trade securities often" etc. There's a magic algorithm that determines whether or not you are too much of a non-daytrader to open an account. If you get an error saying they can't sign you up because you don't meet their 'profile', just provide more aggressive answers. Note that you do NOT have to open an account with margin oranything like that.

I’ve been in the markets only about 6 months and have a newfag question. How long should leveraged ETFs be held for?
Everything I’ve read about them hammers home the point “not for long term holding” but they never define what long term is. A week? A month? A year?
Is there a general rule of thumb or just a case by case basis depending on the assets the ETF holds?
I’m looking at going in on SOXL. Would I be a moron for holding it for, let’s say…6 months?

You're probably trolling but burying cash is a bit of a pickle. You'll need to be aware of where the water level is so it doesn't get swept away. And cash rots unless you package it very particularly, like in a sealed ammo can inside multiple ziplocs with aluminum foil separating each bill. Lurk here for more info.

Long term holding a bear ETF is a big no-no. There are plenty that have gone to zero even after a bunch of splits. I define long term holding as averaging down for up to a year. For there's less risk of going to zero but it's the same thing. Don't average down for a long time and learn to cut early like the other guy said

Don't you guys regret all these years of buying and selling to end up with nothing? Why don't you just stick to a few ETFs and focus on growing your income instead?
I was always interested in investing even as a kid bit I grew up in a shitty country. When I moved to Canada I was following for a long time and finally opened an account in 16. I've barely made any money since (accounting for trading fees and other stuff which gave been really high when added all up)
This year I decided to just be patient especially after I realized that I actually make good stock picks but I don't give them time to grow (I have a simulated portfolio of stock picks from April 2020 and it has returned 50 percent a year, and that doesn't track dividends only price return). But as I was saying, I decided to take it easy and I'm finally making money. Although I'm being very conservative, at least in in the green with an annualized 5 percent (more after leverage)

Being patient is as important (if not more) than good analyst skills and/or complicated math models

https://archive.is/5qp6Z
> Borrowing activity in the federal funds market is signaling that stress in the US banking system hasn’t fully gone away.
>the spread between what borrowers at the highest percentile of the daily fed funds distribution have to pay and those below is at its widest since September 2019. That’s a sign that some smaller institutions are still having to pay more to borrow cash
>The strategists noted that bank call reports show domestic institutions shifting to net borrowers of fed funds from net lenders at the beginning of quantitative tightening. That suggests that liquidity pressure is likely to continue as the balance-sheet unwind continues for the foreseeable future

Soon that will return. Ontario putting infrastructure together to support mining in the north. The car batteries thing is how we will give away tax dollars to friends of friends in return for low paying jobs that allow us to cover rent/mortgage payments.
Mines and factory labour. All done by "new Canadians" just like in the old days.
Plenty of "junior miners" will pop up for a quick boom and bust.

oh man shit yeah! I sell my UNG too often to keep a low average. I hold muh BOIL and side swing UNG/KOLD as it stands. That will all start to change after October when BOIL is on the January contract which should be the Winter peak before it begins the slope back down into the late Spring early Summer trough. At that point (soon after Oct likely) I'll begin shifting bias towards holding KOLD and swinging BOIL, and probably not being much active with UNG. If you want to dip in a bit more then maybe be on the lookout for sub 60 BOIL dips to buy, but be careful with "all in" kind of shit and use caution going into the next contract roll starting 6th business day of August. It will be rolling from the Sept to Nov contracts which will be bearish during the roll itself, but pretty dang bullish as the roll completes. I DO NOT KNOW how the balance between the bearish roll forces (fund is selling cheaper Sept contracts and buying more expensive Nov contracts, spanning 5 business days) and bullish macro conditions (hotter than a motherfucker out there) will wind up playing out during that roll, but it should come out the other side of it pretty nicely bullish. Check the CME Henry Hub quotes to see the projected forward curving. Anyway, pretty reasonably safe play is buy sub $60 if you get a chance, and sell around maybe $67 if you want to keep it *fairly* simple/quick/safe. Watch for *potential* bargains during the roll (Aug 8th to 14th), and what *might* to maybe even *should* be a fairly nice ramp upwards near or at the end, depending on macro conditions as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you could actually sell around 70 to 75 afterwards, but it's too much of a wild bucking bronco to make much of any assured predictions.

Man you fuckin' KILLED it with that AAPL buy! I reckon your only regret was not having bought a lot more!

Interesting. I didn't recognize the ticker, but when I looked it up definitely recognized the STOOK. I bought it earlier in the year at 9.24 and sold at 9.33. I found it in the analyst recommendations at E*TRADE a while back and dipped a toe in. How did you find that, what is your average, and what made you decide to run it? I know it has a great dividend, but I wonder how safe it is otherwise, what with the interest rates and corporate real estate macro headwinds. Something tells me though that those headwinds might be creating a great bargain opportunity that will pay off nicely as things improve in that arena. Anyway, interesting hold.

extreme mega breakout in communication services, monthly, weekly, daily charts.
been watching this sector closely, own google and snap, advise a client that owns telcos (mommy).
i like the whole sector but particularly snap for long term investors and i think there is opportunity in the telcos as well but they might continue declining for a long while, the etf works in mysterious ways.
the etf is the safe way to play this, maybe meta or google pukes, maybe snap doesn't pan out, maybe your chosen telco gets a little bit of "the treatment" and gets left behind, but the opportunities for the mega caps are so enticing, and the valuations on the telcos so low, the etf as a whole looks like a great place to stow money particularly if you're autistic and inexperienced in the market, not that anyone here is....

I had a fair amount of success swing trading DIS but currently a little stuck. Rumor has it, they’re about to sell all the non stream non park assets, so I’ll be selling that hype when more leaks come (or just continuing to hold until Iger fires everyone). I was contemplating whether to buy VOX or XLC last Monday. Both funds are very similar. I decided to buy XLC instead of VOX because it has a lower PE TTM ratio and a higher alpha. However, the alpha may change if VOX's holdings turn out to be more competitive than XLC's.

I don’t think it would make a difference. You can buy without the cash settling but if you sell before that time they still get butt hurt about it. It’s just another way to keep the little guy down.

Nigger apocalypse with cause all the properties in big cities to collapse eventually. But, by that time it will be a fallout hell scape and nobody will want to live there anymore. Think Detroit where you could buy a house for $1.00 in certain areas. Even that didn’t work. In Baltimore their so stupid they won’t drop the liens on abandoned properties so even if you could buy the house you would have to pay off the liens and the years worth of fines and interest.

RXRX. The company is a sham imo. Need you virgins to decide for me what options look good for 1) upside volatility hedging (what calls to buy as a hedge for my shares short)
2) directionally going short via buying puts / put spreads or maybe selling call spreads to capture precipitous movement

This heat sucks balls so let's hope so. I hoped the same with the way gas prices jump every time oil jumps.

>> No.55699032

The main thing I wonder is how the contango might lower the relative "pumpability" between the underlying and the instrument after the roll. In other words, right now if natgas goes up by X amount, then BOIL goes up by another X amount, but will that *relative* amount be reduced to some degree during the roll so as to make, for example, "85 is the new 90".
