When I started at my first law firm, partners were routinely made and were given a year long sabbatical to take at any time they wanted, fully separate from concepts like maternity leave. Full pay, no questions asked, although just once per career. That shit sure disappeared quickly as the older generation made damn sure to pull one ladder up from behind them after another.

I'm planning on doing this. Partly to get my Master's in CS, but also because I make 100k and live in a trailer. Crackhouses in my area are +1M. I'm not coming back here until my salary goes up or house prices drop. Also I have a bunch of capital gains to realize.
