half of the last century has seen a sideways stock market. boomers like Warren Buffet are not saying to buy and hold because the market always goes up, but rather because if you are DCAing in every month then you’ll end up buying the top but also buying the bottom, and you’ll end up making money in the long term. but it’s never been true that the market only goes up. it’s just not true that the market puts in a new ATH every year or two, forever. it does not. it regularly crashes and then takes one or two *decades* to recover to the previous high, and that’s just in nominal terms. when you adjust for inflation, SPY being at 200 in 2020 dollars is less than SPY being at 200 in 2000 dollars, for example.
I’m not saying “tomorrow is literally the top” or anything, and I’m not saying we won’t put in a new ATH this year or next, I’m just saying that the market will crash sooner or later, because it always does, and when that happens I don’t want to see a bunch of red wojacks and anons threatening to kys themselves because they actually thought the market always goes up and weren’t prepared for the inevitable but unpredictable downturn.

If they hadn't pumped 10x these past few months, they would've soon been forced to do an insane dilution at $5 a share to solve their debt crisis, if not declare bankruptcy outright.
Instead, thanks to an absurd meme pump, they get to dilute at $50. It may seem retarded to pump in the face of a massive dilution, but every dollar raised is a dollar of tangible value on a company that previously had negative shareholder equity, as long as this company exists and as long as it has large short interest, there will be buyers willing to eat total dogshit at retarded valuations, simply for the pleasure of knowing shorts will suffer more. This could potentially continue endlessly, as at some point such dilutions will naturally improve actual financials. TSLA, for example, pumped all the way to a trillion dollar valuation on it's own squeeze + dilutions in the wake of the infamous $420 tweet, eventually using the capital raised to expand new factories and secure years of visible growth. It may all seem very ponzilike, but that's just the way modern finance works.

CVNA also claim to be lowering their interest expense on remaining debt despite rates in general being higher right now. Not sure how exactly they're pulling that off.
