You just don't get it, do you? This is 2020-2021 all over again. The market will just keep trading above its trading lines and every dip will get instantly slurped. NASDAQ is up more than 40% and it's been only 7 months. That is more than ample proof, I believe.
Earnings period has started off phenomenally and all beat by huge margins. Expectations have been scaled down substantially for tech so they will beat like crazy as well.
High and sticky core inflation, low PPI, low "customer inflation", borrowing keeps growing, check out M2.
And even if you think earnings matter... check out META's for the past 2 years. Absolute DOG SHIT and yet it is up +200%

Here's the thing about being a persistent Bobo vs being a persistent Mumu.
The upside to Mumu is infinite. The downside is yes, one or two of your holdings can go to $0, but this is rare. When it does happen, you can often escape when you're down like 50% and some baggie will buy your "cheapies" before the company goes under. So the realistic worst case is like -50%, but if you have even just a few holdings you'll be making money every year so the occasional company bankruptcy won't kill you.

With Bobos? You're betting against the economy, against the world. Your upside is not infinite, it's finite. But your downside is infinite! Literally infinite! Even when you do get an upside, it's really not enough to make up for the risk. It's the play of contrarian teenagers.

If you dont trust in a position, the smart bearish play is to simply wait on that position, or move on to something else. Not gamble that you can time the market. It's better to wait in cash for a crash and buy cheap.

I dont hate you, Bobo. I dont want to kill you or maim you or flay you alive or burn your children to death (I reserve that disdain for the janitors). I want to help you.

As Crip Mac says, "Never commit [financial] suicide, everything gonna C alright!"

The service industry is on the rise (as expected since it's the summer season) and trades are also getting back on track (extremely strong for the economy). Zoomies and millenials are picking up the slack as it seems.
The industry is returning to the US to make it the powerhouse it once used to be. As Europe and China keep delivering worse and worse numbers, the US will retake its throne as the king of tech/industry.
Plus, with this high sticky core inflation, growth is pretty much ensured. With the low PPI, companies will squeeze us dry. Bullish.

Yeah, as much as we all like to hate on China, the truth is that they are significantly more hardworking than us. As someone who has worked a lot with chinks, they are crazy. Their work ethic is just insane. I was the only one to keep up with them (+80h/week) and that was only for a year. I cannot imagine keeping that up for years.
The fact is that China keeps growing at a pace that outstrips every other developed nation in the world. They have commodities and cheap oil. And contrary to the internet's opinion, they really are at the forefront of tech and research and are swiftly catching up to us and have beaten us in many areas. They can just brute-force everything.
And they can still provide public massive stimulus packages by printing (we still do that but it's more covert).
I still think the US will run on steroids in the coming years though

Here's the kinda counter point to that. Say you wait till your 40 to get married. Then 6 months to a year later you and your 35 year old Wife decide to have a kid. Ok. Do the math. That kid will turn 18 when your 58 and starting to think about life after retirement. More to the point do you think you'll have the time/energy to keep up with a young kid at 50+ years of age?. There's a reason people have kids in their 20s and 30's you know. It's so they can still enjoy life and actually do things with the kid and still enjoy life after they kick the kid out at 18.

top kek, once you have a kid you don't have time for anything no matter what age you are. Literally just wake up get yourself dressed prepare the kid for school go to work come home prepare dinner eat clean up go to bed repeat.
As far as energy goes, if you take care of yourself it's not an issue, it's not like people fall apart when they hit 60.

The lingering question on that was just a convenient excuse to have a bit of crab action and reshuffling. My read is that this market is determined to pump until something big breaks real bad right now. Like a major bank that isn't so easy to absorb by the rest of the sector like the regionals. Maybe. It still surprises me that the denta on /biz/ still don't understand that the market isn't determined by objective, rational, mathematical criteria. It is determined solely and utterly on investor sentiment. To an extent, of course, that sentiment can be objective, but it does not need to be.

Now, as to the china question, there is a pronounced preference, I think, in investors to discount production relative to consumption. That is, a percent increase in consumption is more important than a percent increase in production to the eye of the investor. Who do you think outperforms on that basis? Which is more, china has a serious set of headwinds holding it back on the consumption front, not least of which is it's declining and aging population. As an aside, I would suggest that china's adventures in SEA and East Africa have less to do with natural resources, and more to do with opening new markets for consumption.

>In economics and finance, a Glownigger Market is said to occur when a country's financial policymakers begin manipulating econometric data for their political benefit. [1] This may be accompanied by organized propaganda campaigns, hidden monetary easing, as well as other forms of financial repression, in order to reinforce the illusion that a nation's troubled economy is sound and resilient. [2, 3] In a Glownigger Market, stocks may seem to rally, even irrationally so, in the face of worsening economic conditions. However, while the goal of a Glownigger Market is to either delay or prevent a politically undesireable financial correction from occurring, the policy actions that led to the Glownigger Market invariably increase the severity of the subsequent financial crisis. By attempting to overpower healthy corrective market forces, a Glownigger Market causes extreme capital misallocation that can turn a minor economic downturn into a severe and protracted economic depression. Visa and Mastercard have been removing support for PayPal because they want to reduce the fees that they pay to PayPal. Strype offers a lower fee to card companies. That is a factor of why PayPal stock has been declining in the past.

However, PayPal has the opportunity to recover financially and lower its fees because its revenue and cash reserves are increasing. It has growth potential and it is considered a long-term value stock.
