DO YOUR CIVIC DUTY - RAISE AN ALERT

BLOCKSIZE CAPITAL HAS FAILED TO UPDATE ETH PRICE DATA.

WE SHOULD SLASH THOSE GREEDY FUCKERS. THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN IF I RAN A NEET NODE.

In v0.1, stakers can raise a valid alert on the ETH/USD Data Feed on Ethereum mainnet if a new oracle report has not been submitted on-chain for more than three hours since the previous on-chain update. This condition serves as the initial parameter for validating the design of alerting in v0.1.

Not gonna get me slashed for false alarms bucko

The feed has been submitting reports despite a single node being unresponsive because it's built on a byzantine fault tolerant model.

>Node Operator Stakers will not see their committed stake slashed during v0.1. However, if a valid alert is raised for excessive downtime, then up to three months of accrued staking rewards can be slashed from node operators currently serving the ETH/USD Data Feed on Ethereum

Dont fucking do this! OP is trying to get your link slashed
I already got 70 link slashed from submitting a false report
Fuck you OP

>> No.55461646

My understanding is that if theres atleast 21 responses it's good to go.... Right? Wouldnt you need like 10 nodes fail to report on time before you raise an alert?

>> No.55461976

holy shit don't do it i raised an alert and 5 minutes later two black dudes came to my house and beat the shit out of me demanding that i send 700 link to sergey's wallet that fat fuck didn't even automate slashing yet

A failing node operator is not a valid reason to raise an alarm.

So it's been down since June 27th... How long do we have to wait to raise an alert? It cost a little gas to raise an alert and there is a potential slashing penalty. What is the upside?

>> No.55463078

>>55461319
Don't worry.
I did it for you so you don't have to do it...

The transaction failed because it did not fulfill the condition for an alert which was for the entire feed to fail for 3 hours and not only one node.
I lost the ETH gas fees for this failed operation and everyone in the world will know for all eternity that there was an idiot who aped into the alert button without reading the conditions first.

Imagine my picture in history book when talking of the first alerters and what a difficult business it was!

Also Sergey could you add a link with the description of what raises a valid alert near the alert button?
That would be a good way to prevent this in the future and not make the alert button look like decoration that was not meant to be used.
Is it normal I have to look through blog articles to find out what the alert button does during an emergency?

Reasons for nodes not providing an update on chain may include, no gas for txn, the node is updating their eth node, they fell asleep.

In all the cases, this is not a chainlink issue, but an individual node problem, however, nodes should be held accountable, and someone can ask each why they have failed.
