Have any of you noticed just how bad women's knees are looking these days? They're pretty gross. Something has definitely happened in the past 20 years. I don't know if it's the amount of sitting people do, or hormones in food, or cellular radiation... but women's knees just look wrong. Even otherwise fit and attractive women have disgusting knees compared to the 2000s and earlier. The thing is... I don't think anyone else has specifically noticed this yet. I've noticed some sporadic comments about legs and stuff, but nothing about knees specifically (except for the old "pointy knees" meme, except now-a-days women's knees aren't pointy, they look like jello). I think society is on the verge of going big into knees. It could happen any day. All it takes is a few influential people making a couple comments, and then someone will write an article about knees, they'll talk about knees on reality TV shows and tabloid shows, and before you know it people are putting out hot-takes about women's knees on red carpets... and that's when it happens. Every woman with ugly knees will want kneeoplasty (idk if that's a real surgery, yet). Knee plastic surgery will be the next Ozempic. It's a potential gold mine

Comfy was the tripfag that first started the /smg/ updates many moons ago. He used to film them in the wilderness. Big5 had beef with him and hilarity ensued. He is the one that inspired me to start the updates once the covid lockdowns began. I wouldn't touch MLPs living outside US at this point. Large seller penalties whether you profit or not.
As for your question, distributions and dividends trigger taxable events whether you DRIP them or not.

If you are a US resident, most MLP distributions are structured as a return of capital so there is no immediate tax, except for your share of the partnership income. It reduces your basis instead, which over a very long timeframe could eventually hit zero. From that point, all further distributions would be fully taxable as longterm gains.
Legally your cost basis in the MLP is generally considered to be a single average value per share, so reinvesting every distribution would continually adjust that average back upwards, and delay reaching that point where distributions become a taxable event.

In my view the only cases where MLPs truly offer meaningful tax advantages are for US based retirees, who already tend to have a mix of passive income sources and may want more cashflow without much tax burden. When they die and pass it on, the cost basis gets fully reset.
Most MLPs are pretty shit though, and the future is uncertain.

The truth is that student loan borrowers won big these past 3 years whether or not they realize, as they've had 3 entire years of zero interest, zero repayments, cumulative 20% inflation which has been largely matched by wage growth, and interest rates at 5.5% giving you a profitable spread on any cash saved away that otherwise would've been part of a mandatory repayment schedule.
