You have probably never worked for an understaffed company then. Code that need one week to be of good standard get churned in in 1 day. After 2 years with no refactor you got some god aweful code, and the people who wrote it has since long left the company. Google technical debt, it's a real thing for everyone but managers.

How do I get into embedded systems? I try to find resources on YouTube and all of the ones I’ve found are trash. I don’t even think my university offers any kind of embedded systems course and I graduate in a year and a half. The closest I’ve gotten to it in school is learning assembly (and our entire curriculum is in C++)

To any and all autsits: do not learn to code. Learn VoIP and networking. You will always be a "voice guy" doing boring shit but will make much better money and have much more job security because no one wants to do it.
No college required but it helps.

Probably, but I'd wager tech companies will keep the barriers to entry for that job low so that they don't make the mistake of paying absurd wages like they did with programmers again. Invest in colleges offering shitty diplomas and certs for AI prompting.

SIRS I NEED TO LEARN A SKILL UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR TO GET A TECH JOB. I MUST. The company I'm working in now is closing and my current skills aren't enough to get a new one.
Should I learn to make websites? 3D stuff? QA? Mobile development?
I have a bachelor's in economy and work as a "monkey editing stuff on photoshop" right now. But those two are not options anymore.
PLEASE GIVE AN ADVICE TECHBROS.

We laid off 3 senior devs on our team. they were only kept because they have been therree for 10 years. literally useless. the new se1 and se2 did more work.
You overestimate what a "senior dev" is. We interviewed tons of "15 year experience" senior devs that couldn't even install a laptop environment day 1 to setup.
We trimmed tons of useless fat, and continued to hire tons more devs after that. But only good devs. We actually interviewed so many people but failed to find GOOD devs

we were hiring mobile devs for android and swift.
Most of the people applying said they had 5-10 years experience, but failed to properly create simple apps without following youtube. failed to adapt to internal design patterns. only knew one way of doing things. couldn't answer algorithm questions. couldn't answer stuff like
>when to use activity vs intent
>pros and cons of each

>how to use segues and when to use that vs pushing to stack?

just basic trade off questions. We ended up expanding our hiring range to nearby states and ended up hiring in canada and texas instead of just our own state.
