Took entry level job. Turns out im really really good at it. 1 year later ive been promoted twice and am a strategic account executive and my w2 was 366k. I fly bizclass everywhere, my company ralleys around me for anything i need. I talk with our ceo like shes my best friend and im always told anything i need no matter the expense its mine just ask. I get paid more money than most people will ever see per paycheck to eat at the nicest restaurants on the planet, play on the nicest courses in the world, and clients give me more gifts as thank (you)s then i know what to do with. I never ever thought i would do this little work for this much money in my life. Im so blessed its unreal.

Anyway I just wanted to share my win with you guys, cant do it anywhere else without sounding cocky. AMA

Hey anon I work as a KAM in a small hardware company. There are only three salesmen in the company, both CEO's and an actual salesman.

I just feel the industry is too niche (IoT for water infrastructure and compliance) and my position looks more like customer support which I'm growing tired of.

What do? stay in this slowly growing ship or look somewhere else, bigger company?

I know I can escalate quickly, transition to sales or manager of my own area but I'm unsure my company will make it big quick enough for me to make it. Product is a joke,10% of hardware is failing as we speak and there are outages on weekends and I have boomers calling me at 7 AM.

AMs are usually cs imo but you could try transition to csm or even outbound sales. If your niche you could have a huge territory as well which is great. Ibwould get as many skills for the resume as you can and once econ improves make a jump.
