Daily reminder that finance is pseudoscientific make believe garbage and capitalism is inherently unstable, exploitative and unsustainable with a built in expiration date. Ever escalating recessions, poverty, debt, wealth inequality, monopolies, worsening labor conditions, disease, pollution, exploitation, slavery, conflict and wars are fundamental, necessary and intended principles of it, NOT glitches. Greed, selfishness, lying, cheating, stealing, competition, conflict, slavery and war and overall evilmaxxing are behaviors highly encouraged and incentivized under capitalism. It is LITERALLY cancer and i dont mean it metaphorically, i mean it literally, it shares the exact same functions and principles as a cancer cell.

Unless every single financier parasite, banker and trader is euthanized and every stock market and bank is burned to the ground, and the status quo completely abolished, the biosphere and all life will extinguished

Oil and gas stocks are bad holds when you think about it.

>oil barrel price is low
oil executives and institutes dump their shares as taking profit first since they are in the know much faster then retail. Wells are shut down to cut costs. Demand is low and kept low to keep prices down so consumer economy expands.
>oil barrel price is high
Consumer demand drops, big boy companies get first dibs on oil since they have the most advanced supply chains. Oil companies do the "ah geez dude" and accept "climate tax" temporarily to keep consumer economy going along and dump on your stock "gains" before you see big growth.

As a retail investor you are actually better off being a tech degenerate and buying halfway decent tech companies and giants and ride their infinite growth cause they won capitalism and companies/people keep buying tech shit. Only people that should bother with oil and gas stocks are already dumb rich people that can dividendmaxx to insane levels.

Welp another day. Credit card debt gets slashed in half tomorrow. So all in all I'm happy. The debt itself didn't bother me; it was the obscene payment that would've resulted had I not taken drastic action. Branched out a bit; no, its not hentai, but its not your uh regular normal type book either. Called "My Friend's Sister has it in for me" In all honesty I only started it cause the main female lead was hot and the prologue the main lead spouts off was interesting. 9 volumes w/#10 around the corner. Gist; High school dude by day, gamer project lead the rest of the time, recruits like minded friends to start their own game company and product. No one knows who they are except very few people. Sounds good right? Well now you toss in your typical school/teenage shat and some other things and the plot thickens. Also the dude's clueless; he's got two girls after him and he's a clueless fucktard about one of them wanting to be a lot more than friends (personally uh I'd gladly be more than "friends" with her) (Hint; It's the main female lead; pics of her in the books and on the covers)

>Oil and gas stocks are bad holds when you think about it.
Depends which ones. All the marginal producers are pretty bad. They trade like call options on the potential for a massive price spike. Often they're death spiraling on legacy debts and end up doing capital raises at lower and lower valuations which kills any hope of long term gains, or production is fizzling out or turning gassy.

Even the low-cost producers are generally not great as permanent holds. The problem is there's no real sustainable growth so it all comes down to valuation. If you bought cheap and they pay a consistent dividend, then you're getting a 5-10%+ return forever. That's pretty nice, but whether you can reinvest and really compound depends on the valuation at the time, versus the oil price. If the stock rerates to a 3% yield, why reinvest at that price?
The other problem is taxes. You buy some hypergrowth tech shit and as long as the long term business model isn't terrible, you could be in for multiple years of tax free compounding as it grows organically and reinvests in its own workforce to grow new business segments. You get that 10% divvy from an oil stock on your low basis, you pay taxes on the divvy every year. Might not seem like much, but kills longterm compounding.

In the end, while it's worth picking up oil stocks when they're cheap, it usually makes sense to dump them if/when they rerate higher. These things have a pretty clear fair valuation at any given moment, depending on forward oil price expectations.
There are still a few good buys right now, like PBR for example. If it doubled without a significant spike in oil prices though, I'd probably bail. There's been a lot of expectations that WTI oil prices will rebound back to 80-90+ later this year, but as the bearish price trend continues into the summer it's looking more and more questionable that we see a second bull market.
For long term buy and hold investing, high ROIC is the single most important factor.

After Tesla's disappointing earnings report, wtf made it pump this hard now again? Is AI meme now expanding to cars (again)? Look at this rallye. This after shitty earnings + not the greatest outlook + price war.

Jerome is a faggot ass nigger and the market knows it. The entire fiat grift rests on debasement outpacing wage growth, such that real wages fall while assets inflate (parasitic transfer of resources from income earners to oligarchs), wages have been rising around 5%/yr, hence Fed will keep real inflation above 5% to fuck over workers. It's why bonds are dumping and equities are pumping.
