i was thinking about this last night, but yields arent the same thing as interest rates. someone correct me if im wrong, but the interest rate (the coupon rate of the bond) is fixed but the yield is determined by the current market price of the bond. So when yields are rising, that means the price of the bond is falling, meaning bonds are being sold off or bid down somehow. If they are being sold off, where is that money flowing? into equities? back to the fed? i stopped trying to think too hard about the correlation between VIX, yields, and poop and pee. I look at them still but its hard to get a grasp of anything right now. But I look at the 2020-2021 golden bullrun on the poop and pee daily chart it looks like right now is the start of one of those. Where SPY trades above all the moving averages and said MA's are always playing catch up, with the occasional slight pullback to touch those MA's after the market drags them up to higher levels. IDK though because the 2020-2021 golden bullrun was fueled by PPP and EIDL money and ZIRP, which is no longer the macro environment. The current macro is literally "muh AI" and that's about it. Everything else is larp i think. Doesn't mean we cant go higher, but short story long is that IDK what yields or the VIX means anymore. I dont think the VIX is capturing niggaz like me hopping on 100 lot 0 dte's, and it seems like more hedgies and banks are taking the daily hedge approach now, hence the introduction of VIX1D.
