Great question actually. It doesn't make any sense to waste a lot of manpower and resources building on Eth. My theory is that they test to build their solutions on eth-network as a Proof of Concept, until they release the real deal on the Avalanche network in the near future.

In Avalanche you get rewarded for uptime, if your uptime is below 80% you dont get rewarded.
So the better connected your Validator is the better.

if not you can rent a server at any cloud provider you want and run avalanchego from there. its really simple to do.
