Daily reminder that finance is pseudoscientific make believe garbage and capitalism is inherently unstable, exploitative and unsustainable with a built in expiration date. Ever escalating recessions, poverty, debt, wealth inequality, monopolies, worsening labor conditions, disease, pollution, exploitation, slavery, conflict and wars are fundamental, necessary and intended principles of it, NOT glitches. Greed, selfishness, lying, cheating, stealing, competition, conflict, slavery and war and overall evilmaxxing are behaviors highly encouraged and incentivized under capitalism. It is LITERALLY cancer and i dont mean it metaphorically, i mean it literally, it shares the exact same functions and principles as a cancer cell

Why are you mad? Isnt this what you wanted and have been fighting for all your life? Reap what you sowed now parasite

If everyone gets a Master's degree, then it's as if no one had gotten a Master's degree. Any productivity gains from the better education are harvested by the employers who benefit from higher-quality labor, while the employees have to foot the bill of their education. Getting a paid education is thus providing free money to employers.

wages are stagnant due to the advent of countless middle man grifter industries taking a piece of the pie.
>oy vey margins at shekelbergowitz corp. are only 5%, we aren't greedy at all!
now imagine dozens of middle men inflating the costs of raw materials, each adding administrative and manufacturing overhead with 5% margins. who knew that the specialized labor meme was, in fact, a meme.
>we don't actually make x at shekelbergowitz corp., we just source pre-manufactured components from vietnam and malaysia, ship them to mexico for hand assembly, and then ship them back to the USA for minimum wage quality control, to meet the legal criteria for "made in the USA."

It was the golden age of America (1950-2001). Literally what happened in those years is unprecedented and basically a unicorn time period. Unironically, the world is now settling into how its always been - chaos, depression and hardship. There won’t be any major wars for a long time and USA winning another war is bleak so round 2 of a golden period is near zero. In other words OP you missed out, we all missed out, 9/11 was the final nail in the coffin.

If you’re the type to go after a master’s degree and get good grades you’re probably the type to get into a stressful and competitive career. Just stop trying so hard. I did and it landed me a remote job with low stress that asks for almost no time at all. I’ve ended up hating that too but it’s most definitely easy.

I'm not arguing for communism over capitalism. China has only nominally been communist since Deng's tenure. America has only been nominally democratic since the psyops of the 20th Century.

What I'm discussing is global power blocs, which transcend ideology or domestic systems of production. America has been repeatedly dropping the ball in the game of realpolitik and global economics since it was given the world on a silver platter in '91, letting China grow exceedingly powerful through the temptation of offshoring large amounts of its production, and alienating the rest of the world with its solipsist arrogance in geopolitics and geoeconomics. This has been especially apparent in how we've been dealing with matters in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

China, by contrast, has taken advantage of its inexpensive but massive production capacity and subverted American international relations with a more nuanced and bilateral approach to dealing with other countries, slowly securing its grip on global economics.

Sure the dollar has been diluted to hell and back over the past 20 years leading to higher prices and lower spending power, but the standard of living our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents enjoyed was more largely a product of the degree of dominance we had on international trade, which continues to bleed out due to to the gross ineptitude of our power brokers since "the end of history."
