Does anyone else feel like link has sort of fulfilled its destiny?
I don't get why people always have to move the goal posts.
It's like the company is successful, the products are widely used and relied on. It's all really not bad if people just stop look at objectively and not just as a meme token.
It's not a DAO, it's a company. And the value accrual collects with the company, not the holders. The company has full power, there is no token governance through smart contracts or anything(which is somewhat ironic, but I digress). So there's no way to force the value to flow anywhere but the company, and they are not stupid.
Sergey isn't stupid. It's more of question of whether he's some kind of evil genius that sold the idea of smart contacts preventing these types of situations, or if he's genuinely just naive and actually wanted to create his original vision with actual staking and such.
One of the things that score one in the 'naive' category is that he does seem to have realized the limited amount of value, even as a monopoly, that can be gained as 'just' an oracle(even if this is a solid billion dollar enterprise which of course is nothing to sneeze at).
Since surpassing his original 'cup of coffee' estimate which has turned out to be impressively accurate, he's has realized and attempted to expand upon that.
Except he's gotten rugged here the last 2-3 years from both Arbitrum in 2021 which was supposed to be a game changer for link, and then LayerZero in 2022 which has gobbled up the CCIP model(but does use link oracles which is nice and better than nothing).
Point being that he is still trying to expand here after bottoming out pegging Vitalik's precious Ethereum with the oracle monopoly that is maxed out.
So he deserves credit for beating the game already. All this other shit is just victory laps for him and at the end of the day.
