Why not open a futures account and buy VIX futures directly so you don't get hit with the daily rebalancing decay. You'll still have to deal with contango but you'll have the choice of which expiration month you want, you'll have the choice of rolling or not rolling up until your contract expires. There's the regular VIX and the minivix if you are a smol timer. There's a Euro vix called VSTOXX too you can check out. As far as buying developed market ETFs, in the futures market you have equity indexes for most European countries, as well as the STOXX euro 50 and 600, there's the European bank index, the Nikkei for Japan, the Taiwanese index, the Indian Nifty 50, Australia, China, of course the US S&P 500, Nadsaq, Dow, midcap 400, Russell 2000, etc. etc. and unlike with ETFs you have total control over how much leverage you want, you can go in 3x like with SPXL but you don't have to rebalance every day so there isn't the decay. You can trade almost 24 hours a day, taxes are better, you can short as easily as you can go long. And so forth
