This type of tube has a lid that screws on securely, right? I had some wiener and britannia tubes partially open during transport before, but those just use pressure to close. It was midly annoying with the wiener tubes because the seals broke (coins were ok though).

Man, I've never seen FUD to the extent that has been happening in /pmg/ threads, lately look at these scammers FUDDing up every thread hundreds of posts.
Nobody is going to just sit in threads all day, posting hundreds of posts about how good metals are as an investment, getting into simultaneous arguments with people and making pathetic attempts at memes all day for weeks on end, just out of the goodness of their hearts, to try and help people make a good investment.
There is definitely money behind the FUD shills, they have been employed by (((coin dealers)) who want people buying silver, in particular.
They've even started making multiple threads to disrupt /pmg/ cos they couldn't use arguments and were unable to make the threads unbearable (despite a lot of effort on their part).
The only conclusion that can be drawn is that we are over the target.

Looks like it. I too got a tube of Noah's Ark who slightly opened during transport, the seal was broken. All coins inside were fine but still, i was pissed. You spend big money on this stuff, the minimum they could do is provide a decent toob with a screw thread. It's interesting how much more Silver was used in comparison to Gold. A Silver Dime and a Silver Half Dollar that circulated for a similar amount of time will have a roughly similar amount of wear, but a Gold Quarter Eagle will be virtually immaculate regardless of how much time it spent in "circulation". It really shows how people's attitudes towards the two metals were different back in the day, keeping one vaulted up forever while spending the other willy nilly.

ive used coin supply store with air-tight ring capsules. it makes the gold pop just a little more.
shipping a single case is needlessly expensive and shipping is free over $100 so i recommend using this as a target for you stack and then aiming to fill it. i bought 12 cases and some stuff for silver that i wanted in the future.
be wary of buying on amazon from cheap chinese shit. the chemicals in the plastic won't bother gold, but could negatively effect your silver.

They're an all around a good choice. Low premiums, high liquidity, and they don't need much special care. Pure 24K gold should be kept in capsules ideally, but with .900 or .916 you can just use flips until you have enough for a tube. And without the capsules they take up less space. I can fit all those coins in 3 tubes, so it's easy to hide them. The tubes are surprisingly heavy when full, it's almost surreal.

Another interesting thing about the krugerrand is that it doesn't have an arbitrary face value like other modern bullion. It's just "1 oz fine gold", but that still apparently is considered legal tender in South Africa. Some things to consider:
- Wooden cigar boxes. A liquor/smoke store may sell empty cigar boxes for dirt cheap - a bucks or two. Problem: they're made of cardboard or very thin wood - cigars aren't very dense/massive. Keep these boxes small so they don't break.
- Humidors. The next step up in class vs price, you can get very nice ones for the equivalent of two ozt of silver. New ones often come with the humidifier sponge and/or hygrometer still unattached - toss them, and you have a nice box.
- New, classy. Lots of etsy woodworkers make boxes that are fabulous. These will cost you several ounces.
- Antiques. From ebay or thrift shops, box sellers know what they have and charge easily as much as fancy new ones, but you might find one that the seller thinks is junk.

In any case, watch the size. Your eyes may be bigger than your arms. Calculate the volume, multiply by the density of the metal, and figure the full box would weigh about three-quarters of that (unless you buy perfect blocks which take every cubic mm of space).

Also, you can buy tarnish-resisting felt sheets by the yard. One yard has enough material to line several boxes. Aside from padding the interior, it helps keep tarnish down if that's an issue for you.

Searching rolls of pennies is surprisingly fun. You can find rolls with over 50 pennies, dimes, wheaties of varying rarity/value, copper, and I even found an indian penny. If you want to enjoy stacking without it consistently breaking the bank, sorting pennies is the way to go. $1.52 is enough for a pound of copper which goes for $4 per pound on the market at a time when the paper markets are popping off in 1000% spikes. You get to look up the types/years of the wheaties you find, and also get to bust out the scale to sort the 1982 pennies.
