I fell for the learn to code meme

>start coding last year in my spare time whilst wage slaving
>really enjoy it
>fucking despise my job and life so decide to quit my job and do a coding bootcamp
>whilst on the course chatgpt is released
>whilst on the course there are 10’s of thousands of tech lay offs
>finish the course and the junior market is extremely saturated
>can hardly get replies from jobs let alone an interview
>all companies want women and minorities to increase diversity
>it’s going to be even harder to get a junior job as AI develops over the coming years

Kill me

I can relate OP. The problem is that there aren't any safe bets anymore, except maybe trades. Its fking brutal times economically. The only thing I can tell you on a positive note is that we've been there before, like when the dot com bubble burst and there were massive tech layoffs. Well, it later came back stronger than ever. Far from sure it will the case again because the whole economy is completely fucked, but trying to be hopeful.

depends where you live?
In my country IT code monkeys are very much needed and paid much better than 90% of other jobs. I don't code but do something in tech, most of my friends are full stacks just working an hour a day, earning more than a doctor. I'm in germany btw, not a great place to be but okay in some aspects.

okay so which industry is peaking in now?
AI?

>> No.54844750

>>54843326
Honestly... Where are you living? There's ultra demand in most parts of the world. If you lack a uni degree from a prestigious institution, I'm afraid you disqualify for 50-70% of the available jobs. Still possible to get one. Obvs wage cucking and crunching included.
Oh, why not blockchain development?
And desu most compsi/coders are cretins. Ideally you have an understanding of econ and how the market operates/what's in dire need 5y from now.
Most coders waste time in idiotic apps with no use whatsoever. Don't be like them. Go to jams/hackathons and prostitute yourself. Should find a job in no time.

You are not in Europe? Here you could do sandwiches courses being paid at 1600€ until you got your MSC. Really try to use gpt on lvl1 niche stuff I swear this crap is overrated. With an MSC you should be fine, even more if you love it.

I knew the right thing to do was learn to code since like 2015 and just choose to do nothing out of pure laziness. I get paid to sit around in an airport as a security guard. I’m probably gonna be a security guard for the rest of my life. It’s too comfortable to just get paid to sit around and kill time.

>coding bootcamp
Well there's your problem.
Bootcamps peaked in 2018 and have been worthless ever since.
If you don't have a BSc in CompSci you're not going to be hired, it's that bad right now.
