This phenomenon is structurally analogous to the increased velocity of capital. The increased "velocity of labor" leads to unbounded (at least up to system breakdown; nothing can be unbounded in practice) inefficiency, which shows up as everyone having to submit dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of applications to every job, which, on the flip side of this, swamps recruiters who throw more and more applications away, leading to people having to submit yet more applications, and so on.
