imo he's sort of right - bears can keep shorting american things all year/decade/century; sometimes they'll temporarily make some nice $, maybe as soon as this summer if we default (lol)

and then, IMO, the market will bury them regardless because full employment & onshoring

Is there a single reason to believe it's happening other than cope? So far all I see is a narrative, no data backing it up. Manufacturing may be moving out of China but not into US

US manufacturing continues to grow almost monotonically, it is wildly successful. The only thing that has declined is manufacturing jobs due to the high levels of automation used in American manufacturing.

This.

The sole advantage of China was that they had over a billion people living in poverty, so you could plop down a factory anywhere and it'd be successful. Nowadays though, even a tier 3 city is commanding a significant price, and they have to resort to slave labour to make it worthwhile. You think places like India, Indonesia, or Vietnam aren't gonna be slurping the dip? Hell, you know its bad when companies are moving en masse to Bangladesh because its too expensive to make a shirt in China.

US is the one of the most impressive manufacturers in the world. Most people make the mistake of conflating manufacturing jobs with manufacturing. US manufacturing is entirely high-end and very automated, not the kind of thing you can do with minimum wage labor. We'll never employ millions of workers making cheap clothing. However, it will employee thousands of highly paid engineers to design the machines that make cheap clothing.

China printed about a trillion USD since October just to stabilize the property market. Private debt to GDP went up another 8% in half a year. Managing all of this is uh... challenging. It will not have a banking crisis but any foreign investor thinking they will make money in China, well good luck with that.
