What is the mentality of an office snitch /biz/? I never understand why they do it.

What does someone gain from snitching? They're not going to get promoted. In fact I know some people who have been stuck at the bottom rung for 10 years BECAUSE they're a snitch and no one likes them.

Beaten too much at home?

Do black people snitch more than white people? These people are white anyway.

Most of the snitches I've known have been males. Ironically they've also been the most vocal about hating snitches. Then again, my parents are social workers so I end up in contact with a lot of low-class people

>> No.547555

what the fuck are you doing to get snitched on? I don't understand this.

I work as an auditor. I can't cut corners. My job is to fuck people that cut corners

well it was banter that you wouldn't want managers hearing.

I guess some people can't handle the banter.

This is part of it.

Then you have Company Men that think they're doing themselves a favor by pissing people off that aren't giving 110% 24/7.

Certain companies like the NY MTA will actually hire people just to snitch. This either a misguided attempt at cost savings or just an outlet of nepotism.

Last but not least is the FNG that doesn't know better. These PDBs often learn office politcs the hard way.

If you work at a smaller company, a lot of the times management doesn't give a shit as long as you get your work done on time.

I don't understand this.

People will do their work badly if you piss them off, so why tell them off and put them in a bad mood if it's just for petty office gossip bullshit that isn't actually effecting the business?

At larger companies, the Company Man me floating past from another department. They often don't understand the ramifications of snitching and pissing people off. These guys either drank the koolaid from their boss or think that they're going to shoot up the ranks.
Certain professions just don't have room for shoddy work either.
Usually once a Company Man is outed, people watch out.

Open offices can go fuck themselves.

I'll tell you what I did just so you can know it's just banter and I'm not actually screwing up at work.

I'm a manager and we had some new people start in the office, they asked me what it was like to work at the company and I said "It's proper shit" as banter. Then one of these snotty min wage bottom rung workers actually complained to my boss.

You were giving the new guys some colorful commentary about their first real job and the snitch misunderstood.

A manager with any real sense about how to do his job will pick up that this is a snitch case and let it go.

The "snitch" tells on people for a few reasons:

#1) They don't like you. Yes you specifically.
#2) They don't feel your behavior is office appropriate, and if you are being "told on" chances are it is not. It's important to know what can be said to whom. The rules of what you can say to male coworkers and female coworkers are VERY different
#3) They are nuts and for whatever reason can't/won't be fired. In this case, who cares, just avoid them

Besides, if you are getting "snitched" on you likely have a problem at work. Your job is to do your job, nothing more. Do the things you want, and say what you want when you are off the clock.

>> No.548132

>>548059

Cause chances are, no one likes the snitch. When shit hits the fan no one wants to work with them let alone do anything.

because some people are 2holy4u

I used to be one of them back in school, when I had an ego the size of alaska because I was taking FOUR ap classes.

Then at some point I realized it's all pointless, and that nothing really matters. Most of the 2holy4u people will not ever get to that point if they've made it to 30 and haven't hit it yet.

You don't have a great work ethic, do you? This kind of banter is cancer man, it might be light hearted but it leads to problems.

If I was your manager, I'd want to know about it so I could sort out your attitude
