This. I didn't go to Europe for the first time until I was almost 29. Only trust fund babies do that shit in their 20's. Aside from the food and the nice buildings, you really aren't missing anything that you NEED to do there if you can't afford it. The only thing I learned is that they're just normal people that have problems just like you and I. They just happen to have different accents. my favorite travel memory is being in Amsterdam and meeting a Chinese girl at a brown bar, we fucked at my hotel and then a month later she wanted me to visit her in London so I stayed at her place to see a good part of England for a few weeks. We fucked like rabbits and I managed to knock her up. Now she is back in China and I'm back stateside

Huge fucking difference. Sorry boyo, but traveling in your 30s is more similar to traveling in your 40s, 50s, and even 60s than 20s. Unless you are like 31-33 years old and squeezing out that last 20s juice.

Traveling in your 20s means you dont have a problem living in broken down hostels, roughing it, meeting other travelers in their 20s who are looking to meet friends, getting into nonsense (clubs, bars, hookups). When you are older travel is still fun but it's different, and once that decade of your 20s is gone you cant get that feeling back.

Will also add travel is one of the things NPCs and 'normies' are right about. It can be pretty incredible and adds more value to your life than blowing that money on materialistic shit or having it snowball in your bank account to a certain point. Also it isnt that expensive. Ive traveled to Spain, Czech Republic, Iceland, Puerto Rico, Germany, and Peru each trip under 1k all-in. Just cant be an idiot and actually know how to deal hunt

Housing: staying with friends
Food: no more than 400 dollars euro food is cheap
Rental car: 360$
Activities: budgeted 200$ but most muesems and castles are free and I love that shit.

So for about 1k im getting to have a fun vacation, if you travel in this way, no its not a meme and its really nice to relax for a while and just explore.

You can of course pick up girls at night clubs, but the competition is way fiercer and every single beta cuck has liquid confidence from being half in the bag, and the girls have their guards up as a result. Being a tourist helps, girls feel less like a slut knowing you can blow their backs out and their friends never have to find out about it, since you're leaving. Now im 33 and went to thailand with my 20y old gf and even though it was nice and i appreciated the food more, have a way better wealth, still i felt a little restless and was kind a hard to just focus in the moment. Just kept thinking/stressing(?) basic stuff, duties and so on.

I am going to japan at the ripe old age of 26 with my gf. I have never been outside of the U.S. I have always wanted to go to japan and its really the only country i give a shit about, I feel like im getting older, and it is important to see what life is like outside of your little bubble and show that we arent the center of the world.

I will be doing Thailand, South Korea, and Japan for a whole month working remotely. I only travel because I am a curiuos person, I actually look at every little detail and go to the most coveted places in that area (museums, historical landmarks, hidden gems) I am not there to get retarted drunk, bang whores, and blow money on retarded shit.

I come there to immerse myself in another culture. Any suggestions on what to do in japan/south korea?

It's not a meme. Some of my best experiences were traveling in my 20's. For example I fucked almost an entire family in the Philippines:

1) the 18 year old daughter, this all started with her. she was dtf a foreigner. 1 hour after meeting her I was barebacking her in my bed.
2) her 22 yo sister that I met while "dating" the 18 year old, she went behind her sisters back to get my creampie. Sister eventually found out. Drama....but we still fucked regularly.
3)the gay brother who was a ladyboy, sucked my dick and swallowed. Fucked him in the ass since he begged for it. Looked a lot like his sisters. 39kg and 5' 2". Prostate orgasm from being pounded. Pretty cute.
4)the 45 yo mom. I had known all of them for about two years at this point and she was well aware of what I was doing to her daughters. I seduced her and came inside of her.
5) the 35 yo aunt. I got her pregnant since she lived like 10minutes away and came over every day after he work to fuck and get a creampie. She was surprised she got pregnant (again). I wasn't. My kid from her is 4 years old now.
6) aunt 2. Met me through aunt 1. I fucked her while aunt 1 was in the other room. She knew. Begged me to cum inside of her. Had baby rabies since her sister was pregnant at the time and it was making her jealous.

Their other brother worked at sea on a ship so I couldn't get my hands on him. Dad was dead and probably rolling in his grave.

American here who grew up upper middle class. I backpacked europe when I was 18 for a month. Again in 2021 when I was 24, and a third time in 2022-2023 at 25.

Worth every fucking penny. I had zero confidence in myself and didn’t know how to converse with my peers because I was a typical retarded shut in gamer. Traveling helped me discover who I was, helped me learn to express myself, and helped me understand what I’m passionate about.

Here’s the thing, the people who complain about traveling in our 20’s being dumb is the fucking retards who can’t afford it. If you don’t have the money then shut the fuck up and let us enjoy our lives. The village peasantry aren’t dining on the same meals as the king in his castle.

With a degree you can enter as an officer and make way more money than the average enlisted person joining at 18 out of highschool.

Plus as an officer, you'll get BAH off the bat on top of your salary. BAH is essentially the average rent of a zipcode given to you monthly so you can maintain housing off base, you'll never have to live in the barracks.

I'd say it's a good idea dude, because you'll also get the GI bill when you get out if you want to pursue a master's for free at any point. And guess what? You also get BAH while you're enrolled as a fulltime student on the GI Bill. I was making about $3500 a month just going to school in Hawaii and New York (You get the E-5 with dependents rate by default when in school)

On top of that, I also get $1800 a month for life in disability benefits because of a couple of real things, but I also bullshitted a bunch of conditions during my discharge medical examinations.

And yes, the experiences were amazing. I've seen things most people never will (like riding a helicopter onto an aircraft carrier during sunrise, building huts for natives in New Guinea with the Australian military, rappelling down a tower ) and met some solid friends for life all across the United States who I've had visit me and have visited in turn as well.

To be honest, I'm not sure what a reservist lifestyle will entail. I'm not discouraging you at all, I just couldn't give you an honest picture of what your experience will be.

most people who travel young either
>1. have money from richer parents (this is most common)
>2. save up 4k at their shitty retail or food service job and use their savings
>3. go into debt on credit cards (especially for domestic travel)
there's nothing "wrong" with traveling but, contrary to what people say here it's not virtually free either.

i've lived the "bum around" and travel lifestyle (to a limited degree): was it fun and novel? yes. but honestly not having a stable source of income which allowed me to build wealth, or solid long-term career/personal plans weighed on the back of my mind the entire time.

I'm now 24, having a loving, long-term gf with shared personality and goals, and am on a full tuition scholarship to a JD program. will I be traveling to bkk or colombia or poland? no. am I missing out on banging sloots and doing weed in club bathrooms? probably yes. but honestly sometimes you really don't know what you have until you don't have it.

there's something to be said about having loving relationships with your family, a great girlfriend, a career path to stability, and little fun local things you do together in your community. honestly, if you have nothing, no job, no relationships, are a NEET loser: yes, travel will change your life. but if you already have something good, just remember the grass really isn't always greener

If you are 23 with 10k in your account, you can go travel to a few places you really want to see, fuck some chicks, eat some cool authentic food and have an amazing time. You can still work after this, buy crypto and become a millionaire.
And of course a few million other things could happen to you on any given day and almost none of them are good. Only in the 2nd scenario you have already had these experiences, and don't have to live with regret, looking down at your limp useless legs and wondering what could have been.

Yeah, it's a meme. If you want to travel to Europe, do it. I've never been but I know there's plenty of beautiful places and amazing sites to see, amazing food to try, and so on. But don't do it because everyone else is, or when everyone else does it. Do it because there's something you want to do in Europe. That's what makes any travel fun and exciting.

My fiance and I love the outdoors and hiking. So for two weeks last year we planned a massive road trip across the US and stopped in as many national parks as we could. Saw some places of amazing natural beauty, hiked famous trails that you always see on top 10 lists. We camped some nights and stayed at hotels a few nights, mixed sandwiches from a cooler in the back of the car with a few nice dinners.

Point being it was awesome because we made it so, not because we followed a meme or did what we thought we should do based on what we saw other people doing. We did what we knew would make us happy.

I started working full time at 18- When my buddies came home from college we would all go on vacation together for about 2 weeks in Europe.
Did this every summer 5 years in a row.
Some of the best memories of my life, the party scene in Europe is infinitely better then the states, everything is less tacky / fake- people are more interesting.
Cigarettes are better in Europe, food is better, pussy, architecture , scenery is better etc etc.

The last trip we all went on I actually met my now wife- We went to HS together and we were friendly to each other but never really hung out.
While in Berlin I saw on her IG she was also in Berlin with her friends so I messaged her that her friends and my friends should meet up because why not.
The rest is history, I would of never gotten with my wife/ have some of the best memories of my life if I never did those Eurotrips and heckin traveled in my heckin 20's.
They're worth it if you can afford it.

The cliche is "travel while you're young, you can work when you're older." It's entirely backwards logic.

When people travel they drink, cruise/train/drive around, it's leisure. Moderate hiking at most. Old people can do that endlessly, in fact it's good for you at that age.

Work on the other hand is draining, consuming, it requires youthful vigor. But that isn't the most important part. The most important part of any wealth building is taking advantage of compounding. If you're spending everything early and planning on working harder and saving aggressively in your later years you have just opted out of the single most powerful force in investing: compounding.

If you invest early and aggressively you will have a compounding snowball of wealth that earns so much annually that you don't even have to contribute anymore. When you're in your 50's you should be in the millions, you can travel anywhere and everywhere, stop working, for the next 3 decades.

23, and have been to every continent besides aus and the South Pole, always solo. I’m a history major so I’m biased, but nothing I’ve done has even come close to being as beneficial as traveling. If you’re a loser like I was when I turned 18, it’s the single most influential thing you could do for yourself. You’re throwing all responsibility onto no one but yourself and it makes you accountable for your actions. Only applicable to solo travel in that case, or maybe even more so if you’re going with a woman because then you have to worry about them too.

Financially speaking, I was in Southeast Asia for nearly 4 months and only spent 5k. Literally cheaper than just existing in the US, and I was a king on $50 a day.

Maybe not as applicable to engineering or something, but any job that deals with human interaction being well travelled 10000% gives you the upper hand. Probably has no connection to a job like coding or something… but since I’m a history teacher for secondary school kids, they appreciated seeing that I was at a lot of the locations I would cover in their curriculum. My point is it’s not very expensive and can help NEETs get some real world skills/independence. I’ve met so many lost guys between the ages of 18-25 that have no idea what they need to be doing, travel helps put them on the right path and gives them CONFIDENCE. Which is so important.

Holy hell retards you can travel when young and old, it’s just different. You can also travel young and still have a good job and money to invest with. When you’re young you are used to shit living conditions so you can still go abroad for cheap. Asking if it’s cringe to travel at 40, I mean lol what are you even a fucking human. It’s cringe to be at a hostel trying to pick up chicks at that age and go to some euro club until 2am but that shouldn’t be what you’re interested in

20s - as others have said, not necessarily better but different. You are still figuring yourself out as a person and being in a new country for weeks can build confidence and give you perspective. Also can stay at cheap hostels, meet other 20 somethings, and just get into nonsensical fun

30s and 40s - likely have a wife and young kids. So your staying at slightly nicer places, leaving the kids at home, and doing fun couple stuff like riding camels , cooking classes, scuba, or whatever shit. Or if you are peak normie go spend a week on a Florida beach

I travel once or twice a year and I'm in my 20s. Granted I have a 6 figure net worth and I'm still a cheapskate and typically don't want to spend over $1000 total when I travel since I usually drive

This but you make it a year, pick up multiple languages, and subsidize yourself by working at hostels and selling drugs/giving language classes on the side.

Did this after highschool and ended up speaking almost half a dozen languages by 20, which has paid dividends ever since.

Of course, coming home and having no money or nothing to show for isnt fun, and becomes less fun as you get older. The dream is to grind for a couple of years to establish a passive online income, then traveling.

Also, if you have ten grand, spend half of it on a piece of shit sailboat in the Mediterranean. This way you don't have to pay rent, have a way to get around, have a pad to bring girls back to (and it's easy to get them on it just offer to take them sightseeing or whatever), and can generally cash out with as much money as you put into it by the end.

Travel is sex cheat codes brother. You are abroad, they are abroad, both know you can do whatever and no one at home will find out, everyone wants an 'adventurous' story to tell when they are abroad and since we are glorified apes that still means sex, and all your endorphins are already heightened since both of you are experiencing nothing but newness at the same time (new locations, food, culture, etc.)

its fish in a barrel.

Curious, how were you able to make a career at 32 with little to no work experience? To be a category Manager you need loads of experience under your belt. What was your career/educational pathway to get there if you don't mind asking?

asking for myself since I want to do something similar.

I worked as a merchandiser for two years, got promoted to Sales rep and did that for a year before finishing my certificate in Data Science with certs in SQL & Tableau and got a Category analyst before promoted to Category Manager. And yeah, my parents money allowed me to enjoy my 20s. I'm hoping I can do the same to my kids instead of them waging at 16
