this country is stagnant, very very little capital or research and development spending by middle sized business, very difficult to scale a business from middle sized to big, poor, outdated and hierarchical work/management culture highly based on class/status that stifles innovation, disruption, efficiency. We have a stagnant stock market that lacks any high growth sectors, is overly focused on dividiend payments instead of growth, and is overly weighted with banks and financial services. The culture towards housing as well is a cancer on this country, so much capital invested into housing instead of productive ventures, prices are bid up making it hard from people to spend income into the economy, or afford to move out of their parents home and have a family etc. We have i think the highest tax rate in europe, but some of the worst public services.

Its a shit show, but mostly cultural issues

She was given money to study at uni overseas by grandparents, after she got a good job in finance and saved a bit she put a large deposit down for apartment and her parents put the rest down. Then she went abroad and “took a pay cut! It was hard” ended up in Morgan Stanley and now makes 4x national average back home years later.

According to her though she “made the most out of opportunity”, completely incapable of understanding reality of my start in life and has a real snobby attitude sometimes.

You get a few seething faggots who think they are some shining example and look down on other working class people though.

I mean even if you manage to get yourself to uni in a working class family its proven to be much harder to get a job etc at minimum.
My family for example could physically not help me on anything. No experience with interviews for white collar work, university, handling money, no nepotistic connections. Had i not been a bit of a loner and into computers id easily have just hung around with other working class lads and become a builder and if anything my family would have been able(and wanted to) help me do as it was what they knew

I don't think that's totally true. There's more of an investing culture in the UK than in France, for example. The tax shelter arrangements in the UK are simple, generous and normie-friendly. Tax relief on private pension contributions is practically unlimited, and there's the £20k ISA allowance on top of that.

Well, it's understandable, because house prices in the 2010s have massively outpaced UK stock gains, and matched global stock gains. There's no perception of an advantage to be had from stock investing.

If the rest of the 2020s prove to be a decade of a weaker US dollar, commodity bull market, ex-US stocks dominance over the US, then the UK FTSE should do well. But normies will pile in to UK stocks at the end of this bull run and end up disappointed.

Well the reason it's done so well is because of that. If everyone put more money in to stocks they would have performed better too.

Also they need to axe the 0.5% stamp duty if they want growth for UK stocks
