People don't understand central banking at all. To them any increase in money supply, of any kind is same as printing dollar bills and giving them away. Fed is basically implementing security measures they were hired to apply in the first place: provide liquidity in times of stress. That's the whole point of central banks. You control money supply to maintain stable prices and provide liquidity via different measures (repo, reverse repo, loans).
People want to blame Powell and Fed for everything. Well, maybe they should instead start pointing fingers at government which is responsible for fiscal policy - the actual source of inflation.

They've already destabilized the prices themselves by printing. They've destabilized the banking system with infinity QE. They've destabilized everything through their own actions and are refusing to fix it.

If they announce they have gorillions of dollars of "loans" available to banks, then those dollars essentially already exist in circulation because the banks are going to make plays that take into account the availability of those Schrödinger's dollars that can be printed and loaned out at any moment. Also giving out those disguised bail-out loans is pumping and inflating prices since the banks don't have to cover their degenerate gambling by selling anything.

Banks are just trying to play for time and hope they aren't the last one holding the bag of shit. Every day that day ticks closer though. They have a massive fucking target on their backs now thanks to the notQE discount window that all the retards think is liquidity to start speculating again. It's to keep banks just solvent enough that their customers don't do another SVB bankrun.
It just makes me laugh that anyone thinks this is a sign of a healthily functioning financial system.

QE is not inflationary as long as Fed buys securities that are tied to future investments, i.e. MBS or junk bonds from fresh companies, which is exactly what Fed was doing. It's basically extra liquidity in the economy which prevents deflation that would occur if no extra money was introduced. USA experienced insane growth in the last decade, money supply simply has to follow that trend.

As for bank loans, it's basically Fed providing temporary liquidity. Banks have to repay it in full to Fed, removing said liquidity in the process.

.S. stock indexes rose Wednesday morning, helped by a rally in technology stocks, slipping Treasury yields, and a calmer mood in the banking sector.

How are stock indexes trading
On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 38 points, or 0.12%, to 32394, the S&P 500 declined 6 points, or 0.16%, to 3971, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 53 points, or 0.45%, to 11716.
What's driving markets
Appetite for risk was evident on Wednesday as investors appeared ever more relaxed about the health of the bank sector and the prospects for interest rates.

Several semiconductor stocks rose as Micron Technology Inc. (MU) executives suggested the memory market may be reaching a bottom. German microchip maker Infineon Technologies shares also went up as it upgraded its 2023 view.
"It suggests that perhaps we're still seeing businesses willing to spend on on technology and other productivity tools," said Tom Hainlin, global investment strategist at U.S. Bank Wealth Management.

Strength in China-focused technology stocks was also helping the mood after traders took news of entrepreneur Jack Ma's re-emergence and Alibaba's (9988.HK)restructuring as a sign of Beijing easing its crackdown on the sector.
"We are in the middle of what we call a market chop phase, and we frame it by roughly in terms of prices of the S&P 500 at between 3,800 and 4,200, and we're right in the middle of there. We see volatility in between those two prices," Hainlin said in a call.

"As we get into April and you start to get first quarter earnings results from companies, that will give us some clues perhaps as to the direction of markets coming out of this chop area," according to Hainlin. "We'll start to see if companies change their outlooks for the for the year, if they're still spending on technology and productivity, and what they're seeing in terms of consumer demand,"

The 2-year Treasury yield , which is particularly sensitive to monetary policy, was trading around 4.10% on Wednesday.

It was above 5% three weeks ago but plunged below 3.6% last Friday when the market feared banking sector turmoil would hit economic activity and encourage the Federal Reserve to trim interest rates more quickly that previously thought.

The CBOE VIX index , a gauge of expected equity market volatility, has dropped below its long run average of 20, a sign that traders are much calmer than of late. Mid-month the VIX popped up to 30 on a couple of occasions.

Tom Lee, head of research at Fundstrat, noted that VIX futures were now back in contango, a more normal structure where longer-term contracts are priced higher.
"This normalization of spread is often a sign investors see the worst of the crisis behind," said Lee. "That is generally a constructive sign and is certainly counter to the general gloom of investors post-SVB failure. This ultimately becomes an important point. If investors are gloomy and expect a financial crisis to follow, but this doesn't happen, this means sentiment and positioning will be key. In many ways, this could be the setup now," Lee added.

In U.S. economic data, pending-home sales rose 0.8% in February, up for the third month in a row, according to the monthly index released Wednesday by the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Pending home sales reflect transactions where the contract has been signed for an existing-home sale, but the sale has not yet closed.

The good play in 2021 was to long oil. Or coal. Those were the real value plays. The existence of inferior plays does not make a losing play a winner. It is nice to have some variety to rebalance between, though.

Even then, LEN was underperforming SPY's drawdown until october.

We'd know at least three or four months beforehand because troop and naval asset positioning would broadcast it. China currently doesn't have the capability to invade Taiwan, yet could develop it within ten years. In the short-term, changes in the political situation on Taiwan look advantageous for China as the KMT is scheduled to win the Presidency in 2024 and their last President Ma Ying-jeou (2008 — 2016) just made a historic visit to China yesterday, the first visit ever by a Taiwanese President albeit a former one. He has made quite a number of pro-Chinese statements and is scheduled to stay for a total of 12 days.

So I wouldn't bet on an invasion until 2028 or 2030.
