Depends wholesale on the stock,
If you want the most safety any of the indexes give you this but if you want outside risk-reward ratios spamming VIX short put butterflies.

As for put condors, you want the spreads of the individual wings to be small while the spread between those wings to be a solid 50-100 points apart. This should give you a risk of 450-400 for 100 in credit on SPX for example.

To answer though for a good risk-reward ratio, I try to stick to a 4 to 1 ratio if possible. Vix gives me this and so does SPX if you fiddle with it enough.

Day 14 nofap almost in the books. Spent the day fucking around with curtain rod diameter sizes and bracket types. Found out the previous owner went with these special hammer in rod brackets and NOT the included mounting gear that comes with the rods themselves. Not enough packs of curtains at the store so had to order more online to be delivered this week along with the special brackets from the special "as seen on shark tank" website. Also fucked up the installation of some sidelight window blinds I bought on the cheap at lowes. Paying a professional from Angie's list to put them up tomorrow, will be interesting to see how it goes. Hope he can help. He's not cheap. Also for selling a put condor this is what you'd try doing. 5 point widespread on the wings, but have it somewhat spaced out in the center.
Your goal here is to get a good credit by maintaining a above 85% chance of winning here, and since we know an index will move you'll just need to manage the trade and close it out at a good point when the index does leave the valley of death.

I saw a neat indicator on TView that used some kind of neural net (basically just a bunch of weights applied to a dozen regular indicators with whatever their settings happen to be) and thought it was a neat idea.
I hardcoded a very barebones and buggy backtester to do some monte carlo with a given set of inputs to see how it would perform during a 2 year period with a random start date. So in the future what I want to do is have it then analyze these results and figure out the best and worst results from a given input/indicator set, record it, and then adjust it, keeping the best ones.
Along the way, I can also see what markets work for certain trading systems. I don't expect it to be chartable, but if I can shit it out into a spreadsheet I can go from there

That's the funny thing, the more belief something has, the more self reinforcing it becomes. If everyone trades 50 MA and uses the default, then it's known how the market will react. Firms often use proprietary algorithms in a game of cat and mouse. But that can be dangerous too, because it means if you're a market maker or big firm, you can churn the piece and make people capitulate because you know exactly how the majority is trading. I think it's said that something like 99% of traders lose money, and this is just something I'm fucking around with to develop and edge, some kind of awful mixture of quant, TA, and macro analysis

Pine isn't too bad, but it's a scripting language at the end of the day. As long you understand logic itself, programming is largely the same; it's just the syntax that changes between languages for the most part.
C# is object oriented, though. This means you have to keep track of types and instantiate objects, and there's a little extra fluff for declaring things. Scripting languages are often dynamic/duck-typed which I think is easier to learn. Keep in mind I have about 8-12 years of hobbyist C# experience, though. Part of it is my refusal to learn Python or other languages, haha

30 years ago, the game was more rigged than it was 60 years ago.
Today, the game is less rigged than it will be 30 years from now.

It's a game. As long as you're living within your means, aren't a complete retard, and can save money, you can probably continue your lifestyle. How many normalfags have a house, high levels of debt, spend 80% of their income, or have 1-2 asset classes? Probably at least 90% of the middle class or more. Wall Street likes growth. You can forecast a company's net value based on future value of current cash flows. The fundamental value of a company is a known quantity. Eg, we can assume a company's FMV is usually correctly priced.
But if the company doesn't continue to grow, then the value will decline. Why wouldn't you want to put money in a growing company? Investors need a constant incentive to park money in something.

Swing trading involves trends/momentum. The timeframes can differ, but look at the weekly chart for gold, for example. Someone would wait for it to establish a pattern over several candles, and then enter a position, exiting when their TP or SL is hit.
It's similar to, but quite different from reversal trading, which is very hard to do properly.

The biggest caveat is that we just had 20-30 years of unprecedented economic growth. It feels like the world is slowly unwinding and getting fucked. At best, I expect poor returns or crabbing for 2-3 years.
DCAing over time is actually not a bad strategy. I've been trading for 3 years and contributing to WMT for 6, and it's almost doubled in that time, and has generally hasn't shit the bed. So, it's just a matter of preference, but you could do worse things with your money

Maybe in the US and only for some poor sods that have useless jobs. Companies are becoming more efficient and have started to remove the filth. Bullish.
People are richer now than ever and it shows. Consumption is filthy high and that's despite everything costing significantly more. Again, bullish.
Corporate earnings have not declined in the slightest here in evroland, but instead keep hitting record highs.
Inflation and recession my big juicy butt. Companies are selling stuff at higher prices, peoples' wages are increasing like crazy to the point that a nurse makes as much money as engineers (meaning people are free to consume), and people are working more and more (even getting second jobs to increase their input and consequently their spending)... everything is bullish bro

Literally free money by the way. They're about to launch a huge project that will bring in a metric fuck ton of new revenue. This is an easy 3x. Keep in mind their competitors Anycolor are currently trading at 6500 yen when they marginally outperform Cover's total revenue, and although Anycolor had double Cover's profit last year, a lot of Cover's revenue was spent on R&D for their multimedia virtual project. Buying in at 1500 yen is a fucking steal. Will easily hit 4500 by the end of the year.

Of course. What fear? What risk? If something "bad" were to happen to these institutions, the state comes in to save them without fail. There is no risk or fear and the market has successfully called them out on it. Until this clusterfuck actually shows signs of actual weakness, the market will continue in its bullish trajectory.
