Subway or commuter rail? Depending on where you're going/coming from, it can be pretty comfy.

For example I live in Chicago, if I'm taking the red line it can be a mess, but if I'm on the brown line it's pretty tame and usually just other commuters. Additionally if I'm on metra (commuter rail) coming from the burbs it's almost always half full and just full of well-to-do commuters headed to their corporate office jobs. Really comfy and much cheaper than driving/parking.

It is. I actually get way more done at home. I think the mass online posts about people who do nothing all day WFH is probably more divide and conquer, it’s just unreal how productive I can be when I can pound coffee, eat food, and smoke while working. When I’m in the office it’s a struggle to fix one problem and send 10 emails, when I’m WFH I can get 30 emails out and 3 large problems fixed, and I can play bing bing wahoo on my breaks.

My company went full remote. Three years later and they are still somehow paying for an entire floor of a high rise office in the CBD. I went in there to pick up my new company issued laptop. There were three people in there. An Admin lady, some Stacy, and some Brad who is obviously only there because he is hoping to get with Stacy.

It can be but depends on the person and their work. Both my GF and I WFH and I’m working pretty solid each day from 7-5 and she’s online 8-5 daily. She produced 138% of goal last year while her peers maxed at 74% to goal, so clear discrepancy there. Myself - I’ve had some of the most productive years ever since 2020 with WFH.

But I also wouldn’t be mad at going to an office, but would become less available while OOTO.
