Don't want to say too much because it would narrow down who I am.
I only worked for the Trump admin so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was very fast paced.
I don't know what DT meant by "deep state" but there's definitely something in DC that resembles what he seemed to be describing.
Carreer bureaucrats are mostly DC natives and DC natives are Dems by a ratio of 9/1, and they would slow roll everything this guy would try to do.
Sometimes they'd flat out say he doesn't have the authority and it would drag out for months until a court clarified that he did and then they’d come up with some other excuse.
Insane obstructionism. It was very frustrating.
I don't claim to have had a ton of face time with the guy but I did meet him and talk to him and I found him to be very charming and likable.
My impression is he hired a lot of high ranking people because he liked them on a personal level, but not necessarily because they were talented or aligned with his priorities.
I miss working for the guy. I miss waking up to my wife laughing at his latest tweet "you gotta read this shit"
It was a fun time. Lots of energy and optimism.
I'll add one last thing. People saying he's stupid are just being partisan or deliberately ignorant.
He's not infallible (I've mentioned bad staffing decisions), but he was very sharp in meetings.
