So 2008 came. Stocks took an epic dump. Thankfully back then my 401k wasn't to fat so the hurt was minor. (I did bag my house cheap though so it wasn't all bad news). However I couldn't take advantage and hike my 401k contributions due to expenses and due to my salary being not that fat compared to now. Fast forward to 2020,2022,2023. Stocks take another dump. By this point my salary is climbing and still climbing now. There's nothing major "there" extra far as expenses goes. Leaving nice extra cash pile. Hello 401k contribution hike (150%) with another minor one on tap for July this year. I mean yeah I could ease off now. Lord knows based on projections and congress actions (RMD required at age 75 now instead of 72) my 401k money will outlast me as it now stands but hey If I can hike it still why not right?
