So, whats going to happen once AI replaces over half of the global workforce? I legit worry about billions of people who serve no purpose to anyone. What’s going to happen? If you dont have a skill that AI can’t do, how will you survive? This is going to happen to nearly everyone in our lifetime.

that's why they're fomenting civil unrest, war, famine, and disease.

They need a lot of people to die.

It's simple really, increase taxes on those still working and introduce a universal basic income for those who don't.

Best answer so far, though greatly exagerated. Things may get a little cheaper due to increased efficiency. Generally, technological improvements mostly just increase standards of living despite the perpetual calls for disaster because of displacement of muh jobs. What always ends up happening is the industries and jobs that are made obsolete with technology get replaced with other new jobs.

So, whats going to happen once mechanical farming replaces over half of the global workforce? I legit worry about millions of people who serve no purpose to anyone. What’s going to happen? If you dont have a skill that farming machinery can’t do, how will you survive? This is going to happen to nearly everyone in our lifetime.

Birth rates will decrease as unskilled labor markets shrink, the general quantity of consumer products available will improve, and welfare spending will increase dramatically to appease the bleeding hearts.
You know, the same stuff that has been happening for the past 40 years, since the invention of the assembly-line robot.

It's more of an issue of social decay than economics. People need literal occupation and to feel like they have a purpose in society. In the absence of this they become violent extremist ideologues of various flavors. We're already experiencing this with the decline of working-class manufacturing jobs, religion, marriage, birthrates, etc.

We are living in the Rat Utopia now.
