Ape is a bet on Yuga Labs promise that this ape coin will become the main token for future developments. Yuga Labs has become a big name in the NFT space with money behind it, so it's not crazy to bet on them. You might see games, other marketplaces etc which I guess holders hope will become popular. Technically getting the coin allows you to take part in the APE DAO, which seems to of been created to allow for the ape coin to be legally created, as Yuga Labs had said they aren't controlling the DAO to the SEC? The distribution isn't great, with holders of BAYC holders getting a large drop along with the founders. I honestly don't really care if people buy into it, as there were very similar posts to yours OP for SHIB and Safemoon and there will be others after it as people chase the Satoshi down the blockchain. Because:

A. Coinmetro was founded at the same time or just after as many much more successful exchanges (e.g. CDC, Binance) yet have achieved nothing. The Coinmetro ICO was over five years ago. That's an eternity in crypto. It's like asking why no-one is interested in EBid anymore- they had their chance, they blew it.

B. (A) is exacerbated by the fact that the future of crypto is increasingly seen as being DEXes by people within crypto. And people outside of crypto already have a list of established 'safe names' in the space Coinmetro would like to fill (Coinbase, Kraken, Bitpanda...).

C. Given the failure of Coinmetro to out-innovate it's competitors, the only real argument against B and C as deal-breakers is the prospect of some sort of regulatory apocalypse that wipes out competition but not Coinmetro. Wupe out Binance? Sure. But Coinbase? Kraken? Think an industry would be left after that?

So why is some venture capitalist or sovereign fund going to invest in a sclerotic exchange that has demonstrably failed to compete, with it's only USP that it may be a rare survivor in a situation where crypto itself is epically buck broken to the extent that no-one will care to trade it anymore.

Coinmetro has failed to outcompete the other 'safe' exchanges on features and innovation; any regulatory shoah which takes down 'grey' exchanges (say, CDC) and opens a space for CM will nuke crypto in general; Coinmetro no longer has any 'promise' since it has been around for a while and failed to innovate or offer a real USP (and the good unique ideas it did have, have been adopted elsewhere first). Three seperate points.

You could colorize your name, not in-game, only through the Windows Registry, only the cool kids had it.
After some time they released a map editor and you could build your own maps, I spent a lot of time building my own map, it was very pretty, no bushes and waterfalls like other maps, but only the same color changing epilepsy inducing block, and a secret room for my rocket launcher with homing missiles while everyone else only had the regular gun.
For some reason everyone kept leaving right after they joined.
