I cashed out 100k and got a home. Sounds like 1 million is actually a lot and you could be retired for the rest of your life with 80% safe and 20% risky.

1 Million is not "a lot" but it is "enough" ESPECIALLY if you have even a shitty job. With one million dollars you can generate 40k/year basically forever without touching the principal. With a part time job doing something you like, you could make another 20k/year on the absolute low end (I'm talking some bullshit like streaming or working in a skateshop or whatever, some bullshit that is related to your hobbies).
