I don't get pets. Expensive and you have to clean up their shit, I never want to have to clean up shit for another living being. There are only 2 good pets:

1 - plants, you just have to water them and they can bring happiness and some color to your NEET cave

2 - minerals, they grew at one point so I consider them a pet, don't require maintenance, can use them to kill an attacker

It's highly unlikely a vet would ever recommend a 10k+ procedure just for a small, assumed quality of life unless they're a scam artist. With plates there is absolutely no guarantee it will be successful at all, and will likely develop complications down the line. Obviously I can't see the injury but the common practice would be to adjust around the disability if the dog can live a happy life. I worked at veterinarian offices for the 8 years of postsecondary schooling I did and I've seen this literally hundreds of times. Look up low-income assistance programs or outreach centers for veterinary care in your area.
