what type of martial arts out of curiosity? because if it's anything useful like jiu jitsu/judo/boxing/wrestling then just make sure your guys are tougher than theirs. as far as playing dirty, you could create fake reviews that are negative just mind your anonymity. the other thing you could do is partner with that gym so that people can go to either one (that's what my old gym did). This sounds more like a personal vendetta than a business issue.
My advice is: keep offering better service at a better price and your business will keep growing. But don't let your apparently hypercompetitive nature sway you into doing something unethical.
Unless you're a multinational multibillion dollar business, I don't think underhanded tactics to elliminate your competition are going to work. Maybe you can frustrate this one one guy and run him off, but unless you have an unbeatable business model or something (in which case you're going to take all his market share eventually anyway) it will just be a matter of time before someone else takes his place.

My point was that pretty much any possible anti-competitive action I can think of that you could take would probably be ineffective and probably even counter-productive in the long run. I don't that will happen. I used to go to a smaller crappy muay Thai gym instead of the new fancy one because it was closer and we had a real cool gang of regulars. There was about 8 of us regulars and a few here or there. The head trainer was real good to me. He didn't do it for the money. He did it because he loved Muay Thai. Don't even think he was making money. Whatever little we paid went into the rent and equipment. I remember I had to leave the gym because I needed to love for my job and few others did too. He closed the gym after that. The other guys said they tried a few gyms and it just wasn't the same. It took me months to adjust to my new gym. Never did enjoy as much as I did at my old gym.

My advice is of course you need to create a beautiful atmosphere I mean the people after work the want just came in your gym, and nowhere else.
And my advice is that you should start to invite high level bjj competitors, someone like Craig Jones is a funny guy, or the routulo brothers, or Mike musmeci,so you can show that you are an high level gym, and like this you can attract the guys of the others gym.
