This isn't impressive by any means, but I've been working on scripting stuff to automate data analysis.
For a simple proof of concept, I took a .csv of screener tickers, then aggregated them into sector data. Any company with less than $1.00 ticker price was designated as a shitco (there are other metrics I can use, such as not having a high mcap or volume, but just used raw price right now).

Anyways, they account for approximately 9,300 symbols on the US and CA markets, and 0.32% of the the total market value. Amusingly, most of them are in Non-Energy Minerals, eg silver and gold miners.
