The main question would be, could they look at your flight history in the prep-week? I would fly to a random country, get plastic surgery, fly to another country, take a boat somewhere.... hike a few hundred miles and camp in the woods for a year. It's really the only way.

This is easy, you fail to understand how slow the US gov as well as investigations in general are. Here is what you should do. I'm operating off the assumption that the US government isn't allowed to watch you prepare (no pre intelligence gathering).

>use cash back feature at register, take out $100 or as much cash as possible
>head to ikea. Ikea offers free string outside of each store. Open up one of the string boxes and take the entire reel (its decent twine, can be used to tie down things as well as used for fire starting -- burns very well and is slightly wax covered so it burns long
>take $5 - buy 10 ikea blue bags, they are 50 cents each
>weave ikea blue bags together into a tarp using string
>head to home depot
>buy matches, batteries, small hand axe, 1 husky storage bin (wheels, large )
>next head to uhaul
>rent pick up truck for 5 days (put this on your card)
>find nearest highway and proceed to drive out to nearest national park at night
>once you exit major city lines, stop truck, remove license plates from truck. Keep driving. Find a place to dispersed camp deep outside the edges of national park

The smaller pickup trucks / vans from uhaul do not have GPS in them. Additionally by removing the license plates, you remove the governments ability to track you using street light cameras or department of defense cameras on major highways (this is how most people get caught). Finally by driving near a national park, it changes what police jurisdiction you are under. Hiding out in parks of a national park near rural towns is very easy and they have little to no LEO presence or humans who would spot you.
