Metaltards don't understand that when a metals value goes up, mines become profitable and start churning more metal, selling the price back down.

Hard to say. Over the past decade or so I've seen gold go from 1200 to 1700 back to 1200, then up to 2000, back down to 1200 and today 1850. Palladium OTH, has gone from 1000 to 3000 and back down to 1600 now. Pt hovers between 850 and 1050. So Pd and Pt would be more attractive to me, were it not for the absurd premiums on Pd. Pt therefore ends up being my non-silver choice.

4oz bars is a very unusual weight for silver. If the premiums are good I'd say go for it. Stackers that go for weight would rather have a more conventional bar like 10 oz, a kilo or 1 oz rounds.

But I think the "Federal Reserve Note One Hundred Dollars" will cause a lot of problems when selling to a coin shop.

Because gold was banned here, there's a precedent for it but silver never has been.

Also I believe a collapse of some kind will happen in my lifetime in the UK and the G/S ratio of 15/1 would reassert itself.

Umm... dunno. Sounds paranoid. 24k is not a huge cash stash for many ordinary people. And they refer to BoE ecoin specifically, not anything else or in combination either. It could also be that they don't want to overtax (so to speak) or crash the system at the start. And if your 24k+ is not cash, what else would it be? I thought banks and joos are supposed to conspire to keep you FROM owning PMs.

Guess what you should do: buy physical silver.

Hey scrapfren
Nah it was a joke (mostly). In total i've around 30 items from 18th c. (mainly 1720-1770) with the royal hallmarks. My buy limit for those was .65c/gr (a couple cents below spot), but for some pieces i paid 50 cents/gr for the cheapest. Some aren't in a great shape and i've yet to figure a way to fix them up.
I'll take pics later tonight to show you.
Beside that i've collected around 5kg of scrap total which i plan to melt eventually. I need to run the number but i think i'm around 13.50€/oz average for those.

Just hours ago i won an auction for a big ass stew spoon from the Maitre Abonnés hallmarks period (mid 17th c.), this will be my oldest piece and is 1.3ft long kek! Our ancestors were speedrunning soup like mad slurpers.

>i think the cost will work out to be under $6/ozt
pfff pls stop fren this is too depressing. Boomers over here are full retarded, literally 75% of the stuff listed as silver is plated trash. And for the silver i can't find shit below 16€/oz min anymore. And i tried all kind of keywords to find unsuspected silver, but it's desertic. France is too poor of a country it seems.
But now i'm 100% focused on the old silber so it's ok. Help me cope with the lack of good deals.

It cost $212 shipped including tax, so that comes out to $5.03/ozt asw for 42.14 ozt of pure silver, my best score so far this year but more and better are certain to show up.

>where do you get stuff like that so cheap?

Today's scrap was from eBay, but spring through fall is good IRL estate sale and estate auction season where you can sometimes find monstrously good deals. Bookmark www.estatesales.net and monitor your area for good opportunities. For ebay scrapping you're not likely to find good deals competing with 30 other boomer watchers for properly titled and described auctions for sterling silver, what I do now is run time-tested searches, often in both titles and descriptions, in certain highly productive "backwater" subcategories. I don't have the time or patience to look at 10s of thousands of auctions, so instead I focus on finding crappily listed lots my midwit competition won't see in categories where there might be 100 or often far fewer relevant new listings per week to scan through. The silverware set listing didn't mention "Sterling" anywhere but the auction popped up in a search I run every week or so in a sleepy subcategory others overlook which that has rewarded me very well.

I take the scrap-quality silver to a refinery called Prospector's Gold & Gems that refines and pours ingots for me (they will for anyone, and they also make 1/10oz gold rounds from refined karat gold jewelry). I wanted to stack as much silver as possible but when spot+premiums broke $20/oz in 2020 I vowed to never pay more than that and scrapping was my solution. Best stacking decision I ever made, my average price has been under $10/oz for over a year now. I resell the stuff I don't care about like overvalued Tiffany or designer jewelry, but I really enjoy antiques so I accession the good quality old silverware/hollow-ware into my viking booty hoard, I can always sell it at a premium or have it refined into bullion later if I change my mind about it.

That must be a good 100+ years older than my own oldest piece of silverware, a gigantic stuffing or soup spoon like that from so long ago is a very rare and special piece. I'm legit jelly that you have access to such venerable old silver. Burgers were wealthy and insulated from the World Wars so we consoomed lots of sterling from the 1880s-1960s, it's clearly easier to find here but it's mostly young soulless mass-produced stuff, 300-400 year old silver is simply unheard of in the US. I think it's wise of you to learn about and focus on stacking the pre-revolutionary silverware, it would be hard to get any classier than collecting or restoring the tableware of the landed aristocracy. I hope you manage to figure out how to get supercheapies in France but either way YGMI fren.

> it's clearly easier to find here but it's mostly young soulless mass-produced stuff, 300-400 year old silver is simply unheard of in the US
Do you believe this kind of old stuff could fetch a nice premium in the US? I've heard burgerbros are loving old euro historic pieces. A friend of my gramp made his fortune dismantling medieval chimneys' mantlepieces from old french castles and exporting them to the US so richfags could put them in their Mcmansions/manors. Now this would be illegal af, but this was an original idea. Maybe we could be onto something?

Very worst.
To counter pony spread back in the day, "Fluffies" were created.
They are dumb and stupid but willing.
Unfortunately, they are always killed in awful ways spilling "outchie juice" everywhere.
These two specimens are probably going to die.
Have a rare non gore one.

Are you one of those silly anarcho-capitalists? If so, how long do you think you would last if there was no state? I hate to break it to you, but there isn't a place in the world without a state, because it's in the nature of humans to carve out territory through legal documentation and military force. Gone are the days of tribal communities, even the ones that think they're in full control of themselves and their surroundings are really just unwitting subjects of those that choose not to destroy their way of life.

I'd have to do some research but I wouldn't be surprised if your old French silverware could sell for a good premium here. Something completely unrelated to silver but possibly worthwhile for you would be collecting and selling hand-carved medieval stone catapult/trebuchet balls, or stone projectiles used in early cannons into the 1600s. I was buying 13th century stone catapult balls cheap from a guy in Spain who could find tons of them at a battlefield of the Reconquista, even with shipping costs to the USA they were lucrative. If there are old battle sites or castle ruins you could hunt, or stone piles made by farmers clearing obstructions from the soil on the edges of farm fields where medieval battles or sieges occurred, you could probably find some. History nerds in the USA think medieval artifacts like that are cool and would pay upwards of $200 each for them. You ship via FedEx or a similar carrier and declare the contents as a "limestone" or "sandstone nodule mineral specimen" and no one will be the wiser or think you're exporting artifacts.
