And the sad thing is that here in the US most lenders require the debt to be paid in full and not in payments. If the heirs can't afford to do so then the house MUST be sold and then the lenders can just get any leftover debt back from the Federal Housing Admin.

I don't know how the fuck that's legal....so a lender can adjust the monthly payments so the borrower pays the same amount by reducing how much of that monthly payment goes into the principal...if at all? That could leave you without any equity even after a decade plus of "paying your loan."

Yeah I stopped dreaming a long time ago and just settled for working security at a Motel 6. Sure, I only make $20/hr (I'm in California) but all I do is walk around and shoot shit with the concierge. Sometimes there's no vacancies at all and we just shut down all the lights and I sit in the office staring out the window at the trucks rolling by.

It's a peaceful life. I got me a fat girl at home who always warms up the leftover dinner so I've got a hot meal waiting for me when I get home.
