I'm in the air force and everyone I have ever spoken to about pm have said that the dollar will never lose its value. I'd be jelly of his ~$16.75 silver dollar scores if I wasn't going to wind up inheriting them all eventually. They sell normal circulated dollars for $32 but are sticklers about grade so ones with scratches/dings or excessive wear are sent to a refinery. Most anons aren't blessed with such a based coin shop but I'm sure they're not the only place in the country with good deals so keep your eyes open and ask around about refinery scrap bins some shops might have hidden in a back room.

When a slice of bread becomes $1000 USD then the next day the same slice is $10000 USD, and gold and silver 50x - 100x, do you really want to liquidate? You would hold until the economy stabilizes and buy back into the market at rock bottom once a Gold / Precious metals standard is set. I would only liquidate partially if you absolutely have to for you and your family to survive if things do get worse.

I don't believe a mad max SHTF scenario will happen, but just very hard times with society keeping on.

As for my experience gifting or exposing people to metals, it varies. Some appreciate it, but most make literally no comment of it whatsoever (beyond the obligatory "thank you for the gift"). It's so odd to me when people say absolutely nothing. They seem so completely disinterested to the point where they don't even want to waste their breath inquiring about it. It's as if a lot of normies view coins on par with something like stamp or postcard collecting. For people like that, I make no follow up effort to try and talk with them about PMs.

Generally speaking, yes. If your local currency crashes, then the price of everything shoots up, including PMs. Whether or not the people around you will begin using PMs as currency is uncertain. It happens in some places, sure, but I don't necessarily think everyone in every country would behave the same. Most people in the US don't even have any PMs and have no interest in them. If the USD collapsed over night, I'd wager most Americans would be begging for CBDC or whatever the government has to offer them as the new currency.

If they're manipulated down it means they're cheaper than normal. If enough people start hoarding them they'll run out of the physical metals very fast which ends the manipulation and their values goes back to its normal ones.
