I would not buy a house from a boomer for $1.
They choked off supply with zoning laws on purpose for decades and destroyed the livelihoods of the generations after them. This begat many, many other indirect problems 2 or 3 levels down: people not starting families, demographic collapse, huge debt burdens, the dependence on credit and interest rates in the economy. The massive increase in real estate prices is not the only cause of these, of course, but it is a huge factor.
For "real estate will always go up" (and why would it always go up, if not for the restriction of supply, the increase in demand, of the debasement of the currency?), they sold their nations and the fates of their descendants.
For all the sympathy one can muster, the moral and civic failings of these people are truly harrowing.
