It's because, to my knowledge, they really fuck with the spreads so if you try to market buy something you get fucked and get the worst possible buy price because they buy the share for the best price, then sell it back to you for the worst price in a nanosecond.
At least that's how I think it works, not sure though.
I'm sure there are other reasons too. Most serious traders use a different brokerage but for small time guys it probably doesn't matter a hell of a lot.
