I didn't know my dad was a manlet until I was close to him in height since 5'7 barely seems shorter than 6'3 when youre under 5'. Also its cooler to have a dad who had a hard life for his height but still managed to succeed and breed rather than a guy who had it easier and still ended up mediocre

I feel the same way, OP. I think about making it and buying a big house, but I just can't imagine myself being The Guy. You know The Guy. Decently happy family life, with a spouse and at least one child/child surrogate (doesn't have to actually be a child, could just be a friend you're helping or w/e); center of family gatherings where they're an immaculate host; has friends over for nice dinners; uncountable little moments and everyday life with loved ones. And I can't imagine myself being him because, in my mind, he's always a physically large man without the kinds of hang-ups I have and with the kind of temperament that would take years of therapy for me to acquire. I still want to make it, I still want my big house, and I still want to get as close to being The Guy as I can. But it always feels like something would be missing.
