because now it is the New Year
it would hurt the bottom line of too many professionals to have the 2022 year dump to the ultimate target near 3300 SPX
more money, more bonuses, more opportunity to maximize tax benefits if they can draw it out into two years
Take a look at the move that happened 2008 to 2009
when the New Year begins, the new wave of selling can begin - won't hurt their books as much & now they are better positioned, so they can then buy the (imminent) capitulation moment

Yeah probably
the week leading up to / during the week of the June expiration
bottom near 3300 SPX between June 7th - June 14th
the June expiration will be huge, and all the puts that will be exercised will create a floor
similar to the move in 2022
could also happen in May, but the June expiry is more likely
Federal funds futures / Fed watch tool believes May / June pivot
I personally am not buying anything until then, just building up the dry powder for the inevitable move

what in the fuck are you on about son
the market has been waiting for Tesla deliveries with laser focus for a month, and they just published them yesterday
the market expected 425-450K and they delivered 405K
Tesla had a ridiculous multiple because they were growing 50%+ a year
It is now evident that the pace is slowing, and is likely to get worse as the global recession grows
This results in a lower multiple, lower price of Tesla shares
if you didn't know about the deliveries.. you should not be investing in Tesla stock, are you clearly way out of the fucking loop

Everyone wanted good numbers today to justify the pumpage over the weekend and give everyone an excuse to sustain it through EOD. Instead manufacturing PMI was on point and construction spending was a lot spicier than anticipated. The meme pump has been put on ice and it'll be downonly for the remainder of the day. Buy them through ETFs. Here are some good ones to check out:
>BIL
1-3 month treasury bills. Basically zero risk because of the duration. right now has a 4% yield
>SCHO
1-3 year treasury notes. Low risk because of it's duration and because yields are near their highs
>SCHR
3-10 year notes
>GOVT
1-30 year mix of treasury notes and bonds. The average duration is about 7 years I think.

Long duration bonds. This has huge price swings and you can lose a lot of money if you're not careful

you keep using this word.. I do not think you know what it means
publishing their numbers, saying how many vehicles they delivered is not 'speculation'
they failed to meet expectations
the market had priced their stock as if they were making 425-450K deliveries
they delivered 405K
if they had delivered 450K, the stock would have rallied
the market had 'speculated' that Tesla would continue to grow 50%+ a year
now the hard data comes out, destroying this speculation, that they are NOT growing at 50%+ a year
>apparently that means the company is going to fold
this is not what it means when a stock price falls.
I cannot face palm harder.
Tesla is still valued at $380 billion
Ford is valued at $46 billion
I am not denying Tesla's zero debt, Tesla's growth potential, the conversion to electric cars, that they are a great company that will still be around 10 years from now
You are conflating VALUE with PRICE
that because the price of the stock is going down, that the company is going bankrupt
that isn't how it works, isn't what it means
Think about it like this
I try to sell you a banana for $50
>what the fuck! A banana isn't worth $50!
>why would I pay $50 for a banana!
Are you saying that bananas are shit?
Are you saying that bananas are toxic?
Are you saying that you will never eat a banana ever again?
No. You're saying that the price of $50 is too much for a banana.

look at the 2008 - 2009 market cycle
look at how the market moved going into the New Year
VIX has been manipulated for all of 2022 to prevent the real capitulation move
now the cycle can continue
if they sell now, they can build up their dry powder so that they are ready to load up on cheapies at the May / June bottom

Both options are safe. With BIL you will get a 4-5% yield until rates drop. With VGSH you will get smaller distributions (it holds older bonds at lower yields) but you will make money if the 2 year yield goes down and lose money if it goes up. 70% BIL and 30% VGSH could be a good option. Low risk but you'll make some extra money if the 2 year yield gets pushed down.

One other thing to think about: How long are you planning on holding these for? Until the market capitulates or will you need the money at some point? If you need the money in the near future then 100% BIL would be better because it'll be completely safe. But if you're going to hold for a while then you can take longer duration risk with VGSH

I just went to a wedding 2 weeks ago, where I got cornered into conversations with three different 60-70 year olds, as they know I trade for a living
Each one of them has been tracking their portfolio like a hawk this entire year
When you see yourself losing $100,000 in a year, you start paying attention
Nobody cares while the market is going up - they just keep passively investing - who cares to look at it continuing to go up and up
but when it's going down, it's a much different story
they are extremely involved - direct quote from one of the boomers

Yes. It works like this: imagine you hold a 2 year treasury note that yields 4%. The next day the Fed cuts rates to zero and 2 year treasury notes suddenly yield nothing. You can then sell your 4% note for a big profit because new notes aren't yielding anything.

The same works in reverse if rates go up. If CPI comes in really hot then the bond market will demand higher yields. That same 4% note you bought will have a lower value because new notes will yield more.

For the current risks in "the system" I believe that most REITs aren't paying nearly enough dividends for their current prices to be worth holding.
Just look at O (probably the granddaddy), offering a yield of about 4.7% in this environment.
I'd probably feel safer in AGNC and NLY preferred stock bought below $25 right now than holding O or any other REIT outright.
