Why are oats, which are healthy, cheap, durable, and have long storage lives, less expensive than shlop at McDonald's, even though it seems that oats are more "valuable?" Why are teachers and tutors paid less than instathots and sportzballers?

A burger is processed and processing costs and not everybody can do easily. And meat is not cheap. Meat was an animal once, you know.
I can put 50g oats + 150g water in a glass and have a breakfast tomorrow, but I can't wake up with a fatty meatburger.
If anything, being durable makes it cheaper.

Can be produced and processed in bulk for little effort or expense per unit, by anyone with the means. Find a way to get 50lb bags from closer to the source, it will be several times cheaper than what you'll find at the grocer, even though it's so cheap there, that's still with a tremendous markup.
