This is something that has my head spinning. I work my ass off and barely get 1 ounce of gold's worth of money per paycheck. Most of that goes towards bills, etc. But the actual "savings" I accumulate on a weekly basis is so marginal that it need'nt be considered capital at all. It literally is "arcade tokens". I can have food, dining experiences, alcohol, maybe a nicer car or a piece of furniture or whatever. All of it lands within the realm of "consumption". I do not actually acquire capital, but simply produce work and labor to consume.
The NPCs do not understand this. They acquire capital only passively via retirement programs. And even then that "capital' is ponzi tier payments. No one is expected to extract their retirement and ask for it in commodity form.
I feel like there should be a more concise word for what I am saying here. We are being pinned between poverty and meaningful savers to foster us as a consumer-slaves.

They have an existing above ground supply. They have in-ground deposits, we have annual production numbers, we have demand figures etc.
There are plenty of ways to look at the relationship between the two. If we said silver comes out of the ground at 8:1 compared to gold that could illuminate some factors as to a fair price.
I think the big thing you are hinting at is the increase of industrial demand for silver. It is unprecedented the technological advances made during the last debt bubble.So there is a good case to be made that past valuations of silver no longer apply. The puny price tag it has now is literal peanuts compared to going to the grocery store to buy eggs for $4 per dozen. THAT comparison sort of bends reality.

- If you buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests, you will still appreciate them even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to part with them.
- Some beautiful generics are priced comically high (Germanias, GSM special editions, e.g.) - they don't follow the market trends as readily, garnering peak price only while fashionable. Be aware: dealers may categorize and price these as "generic" (meaning below spot) when buying them from you. Or the gamble might pay off as they become very popular (Englehard, PAMP, antique miners/refiners, e.g.).
- For new generic bars, watch the markups over spot: premiums (added charges) go up for smaller pieces.
- Shipping is an added premium. Many vendors offer free shipping for purchasing a minimum amount (commonly $200).

The fingers, connectors and bgas are gonna start with HCL and H202 to dissolve all non pms and separate the foils from the substrates. After that the foils will be collected, the stripped fingers discarded, and the bodies and substrates of the bgas put into my furnace to be ashed. The ashes will be processed via another hydrochloric wash, drained, filtered and washed with water. All of these products will be added together into a 2l beaker, and AR will be added to dissolve the gold.
I haven't decided whether to do electrolysis or chemical stripping on the heatsinks yet. I need to receive them to determinevthe generations of cpu they came off of, thus telling me the relative thickness of the plating.

This is reasonable. My one objection would be that boxes cost rent, and depending on how much is in the box, that can make the effective premiums stupid high. You can insure PMs as part of the household goods. So I would store the hard-to-replace items in the box and allow my home to store the bulk generic crap.

Buy a used safe and save major $$$. Safes are rated by UL. The rating is the only thing that matters. TL-15 will stop most burglars. Make sure it's bolted to something if light enough to be wheeled away. You can add fire resistance to a safe later (on the outside, or via a smaller fire-resistant container inside) so focus on getting the highest TL rating you can afford.
