Is buying a car with a loan / financing acceptable? I don't really want to put 5-10k down on a used car right now and use most of the money in my bank account. I know normies use payment plans so that makes me think it's a straight rip off scam.

depends on what you need your car for

commute daily to full time job that pays more than 30K: Buy a 15k -20k low mileage Lexus or Toyota.

Work from home: $3500-$7500 Crown Victoria, 100k miles ex police interceptor

Work truck: $6000 - $10000 F150 100K miles or Toyota pickup 200k miles

put as much cash as possible down, if you need a $5000 or less loan buy a crown victoria cash and save for an upgrade instead. make sure you can pay off your loan at any time with no penalty, get the longest term for the lowest monthly payment. haggle the interest rate down.

Pay off loan ASAP regardless of term to save on interest. Having a low monthly payment helps if you get in a bind you can still make payments easily.

Here's the real biz pill. Make more money to buy new cars in cash. Thats what I did with my civic sport trim. Could buy a supra but cars are for A to B only imho

buick is better, all hondas and toyotas in that price range are usually at least 150k miles. meanwhile grandma's buick for church with 40k miles that was actually maintained will be the same or less. If you get an older Buick with the 3800 V6, it's as bulletproof as a toyota from the 90s

Just buy a used Honda Civic for like 5k with 100k miles. Will last another 100k miles guaranteed.

I’ve had my 2001 Honda CRV for 10years now. Was purchased with 200k miles. Now has 350k miles on it. Heats up past 60mph, constant check engine light on and sometimes turns off, but eh it’s still going idgaf

Sounds like your radiator fan needs replacing, does the overheating go away if you turn on the heat?

It’s a number of things I’m guessing. Sometimes the temps will spike while driving or idle. Revving the engine makes it go normal. Turning on the fan does not make it go down.

I’m sure it’s an air bubble in the line although the engine is old now. Driving up steep hills also overheats my car.
