Thankyou to the Anon's who made the posts about Etheremon. I was able to use the gains to buy the rest of an entire Bitcoin cash.

You literally blessed me with the ability to buy a whole Bitcoin sub 3.5k. I will give back when BCH fulfills its destiny.

>Corecucks will defend this.

>Stay poor corecucks.

Just wait for when OPCodes are enabled on BCH and people can begin building games like Etheremon on top of the Bitcoin.

"Secret" etheremon / how to catch it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbGCxqt3-ZA

Dev originally said it was a mistake, then said he would delete it. (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/etheremon/comments/7l1wwz/how_to_catch_diplovernmissingno_the_secret/drjs5w0/))

Changed his mind, said he would LIST IT. (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/etheremon/comments/7l1wwz/how_to_catch_diplovernmissingno_the_secret/drjw99s/))

BUT IT CAN STILL BE PREORDERED AND WILL GET BOUGHT TONS WHEN IT'S LISTED AS A REGULAR PONZIMON.

I can't shake the feeling that Etheremon as a project has big potential, but that those of us who got in on gen 1 late will be the suckers taking one for the team.

If I were the Etheremon devs, I'd get trading and battling into the game, then add "Gen 2: Just like Gen 1, but starting over from the 0.1 pricepoint and with less harsh price scaling."

There'd be a big potential to draw normies to gen 2 without pricing them out, without the backend hassle of trying to fiddle with the worth of gen 1 mons.

Some gen 1 buyers would FUD on reddit but be drowned out by the wave of new happy customers.

IDK just my take.

It's not entirely clear what, if anything, will change when he lists it though. If you look at the comment he's replying to, it's asking "why not just fix the stat values and list it?" Those "stat values" are referring to the fact that he has 10x the return that a mon of his price should have. He promised that nobody will lose money, but did say that the stats are "incorrect". It's honestly hard to understand his broken english sometimes so I would be cautious, even considering those comments.

And I'm saying this as a guy who gets 0.65 ETH every time someone catches a MissingNo. If you decide to catch one you're taking a gamble that the dev handles the situation in a way that benefits you, or that if he doesn't you will at least be fairly compensated. (and if so -- how? at its current price/return 98.7% of the purchase cost goes to directly into dividends for people like me, so where would a refund even come from? The dev's own pocket?)

>>5294132

>So I assume 281 is the break even for this scheme.
In terms of % returns that SHOULD apply to this as well, but you might find that psychological barrier comes sooner because MissingNo.'s price increases MUCH FASTER than other mons. The contract always adjusts the price so that the full purchase cost covers all the previous dividends, which means that with his initial bugged return of 0.05, he will increase in price 5x faster than the most expensive "legit" mons: Quillster and Windora. Again, in terms of return rate this shouldn't matter because it's still more returns per ETH spent even at such high prices, but as the barrier to entry increases I wouldn't be surprised if it slows down faster than the rest. It started at a moderate 0.5 ETH and is now already the most expensive mon by a long shot at 4.05 ETH with only 80 caught in the world.

As for how to catch it. The youtube video in >>5293925 is pretty clear in my opinion. What parts are confusing you? I'll try to explain the steps in text form as well:
Go to MyEtherWallet
Click on the "Contracts" tab.
input the address and ABI of the Etheremon smart contract, shown here on EtherScan:
https://etherscan.io/address/0x8a60806f05876f4d6db00c877b0558dbcad30682#code
Call the catchMonster function with the following parameters:
_classId: 20
_name: whatever you want to call it
Finally, send the transaction with enough ETH to catch MissingNo.

As mentioned above the cost changes very quickly as more people buy it, so stay up to date by reading it from the data contract:
https://etherscan.io/address/0xabc1c404424bdf24c19a5cc5ef8f47781d18eb3e#readContract
See pic related for how to read the relevant part. As you can see it's 4050000000000000000 which means 4.05 ETH right now.

Lots of people have had problems with being unable to cash out, and I've always responded by telling them to up the gas limit and it has always fixed it. Finally, the reason it uses so much varying levels of gas is because it depends on the amount of mons you have. This is the funciton it calls every time you cash out:
function collectAllReturnBalance(address _trainer) onlyModerators public returns(uint256 amount)
And if you look it up in the source code, you'll see that it iterates over all of your Etheremon and performs even more calculations on each one to determine its earned balance so far. As you collect more Etheremon the required gas limit will increase.

I'd imagine that guy feels pretty shitty right now, but fortunately this is more than a ponzi and in all likelihood it will be worth more than 3 ETH by the time trading is implemented. The nice thing about the rising price is that it keeps mons very scarce, and the price itself is a rough indicator of the absolute max people were willing to pay for it. So when battling comes out and X mon is desirable due to its type, evolutions, raw bp, or whatever other reason, that mon is going to be extremely desirable yet there will only be a few hundred in existence and the only way to "generate" a new one is to pay the full catch price. Current holders of literally any mon right now will be pretty happy I suspect.

Or maybe the dev really will exit scam and anyone who didn't cash out yet is fucked. 50/50 I'd say.

Right, and if the devs were to all die right now that's all it will ever be. The point of buying mons isn't to get all your money back in dividends. The point is to battle, evolve, merge, and get the strongest mons possible. The dividend system is an early adopter incentive, but this game obviously exploded way faster than the devs anticipated and the main reason anyone seems to be buying mons is for the return itself. Anyone buying any mon for only that reason right now is going to be pretty disappointed. But when the actual game part of this game is implemented and we get a trading economy, all the mons at their current prices are going to seem like quite a deal.

>> No.5298427

>>5298154
Right from the first thread, everyone joined in because it was a pyramid (not a ponzi). That was obvious. The difference is that this game's intention is to not stay a pyramid scheme. It will have incentive to buy in even at higher costs, you'll be able to trade (thus making money off a free market, as your mons can be sold below current standard prices, or higher if it's a good roll, thus guaranteeing extra money back, on top of the dividends). Battling is rumored to involve ETH betting if you want, meaning there's incentive to get good shit, also giving incentive for people to trade and buy in. If no one's selling good ones, you can buy ones for an attempt at rolling a good one. You'll also be able to combine some mons to get other ones, apparently, giving incentive for people to buy the really weak ones that go for lower prices.

There's more to it, but the devs need to give a concise report of their intentions at this point. Yes, it started as a pyramid scheme, but that's moreso because he likely didn't expect /biz/ to shill and send it immediately to 2nd place on Eth usage. It's likely a bunch of inexperienced devs trying to do something good and getting overwhelmed because of /biz/ jews and reddit fud (which does not mean the game will flop, either, just means they need to express their intentions for investors, and they'll likely get all the assistance they need collaterally).

Even then, once the game is up and running, it's literally guaranteed that each generation of mons will get the same results and dividends, because people know this shit sells, and you can extract your earnings at any point.

Literally /ourmon/
I'm going to put my missingno earnings into buying ALL of the first 100 Smorples. And then from then on buying a Smorple is pretty much free for me since I get almost my entire purchase price back in dividends. It's foolproof. Anybody who wants a Smorple will have to go through me.

Expect another surge when there's selling added in--the price will definitely drive down if the developer doesn't do it manually, and people will buy in cheaper, causing a domino effect.

There's fundamentally nothing stopping them from making gen2s have, say, 90% of the battlepower with a much lower price. So you'd get most people buying gen2s, but autists would still go for gen1s. Pay2Win models on mobile have proven whales account for a disproportionate share of the profits, and whales are willing to spend dozens of thousands of dollars on a single game.

Besides that, letting us sell etheremons should put momentary downward pressure on prices as those who made their principal back can sell for a pittance. Then prices should be on a slow but steady climb up all the way to the site price, as the supply of "cheap" mons dries up and flippers and less early investors compete with each other.

The economics are sound when you think about it, instead of a race to the bottom like CK it's a race to a determined top. Much like the practice of anchoring in retail marketing, the sale price from the website can serve as a psychological reference point for customers.

It's a long shot for anon devs to pull this off, but the economics involved in this are absolutely fascinating. CK was an interesting experiment and if Etheremon isn't a scam it might prove to be even more interesting.

For what it's worth, all of mine are named too. Just "Diplovern" would be the true default name. I named my first one MissingNo. as a reference to the most famous "secret" Pokémon. The rest I named sequentially because I don't like having two mons with the same name and was more concerned with buying as many as possible as quickly as possible than thinking of new names, except I fucked up and have two #8s as I thought the first one would fail. The MissingNo. name just caught on partially because it was an appropriate name for the situation and mostly because I don't think most people realized that it WASN'T named that to begin with.

Yeah, but it looks like things will be slowing down for a while. People keep wanting to advertise more and make more dividends, but it's finally reached a point where anyone buying a mon just isn't going to see a return in its current state.

The devs are now working on decentralizing while also future-proofing it as much as possible (because once it's decentralized it can never be changed, that's the whole point) which is going to be a complex technical task. This probably comes ahead of new mons and other content because the reputation of this game outside of /biz/ is "total complete scam with shady dev" and the only way to fix that is to remove/reduce the trust necessary to play the game.

How likely is it that we'll be able to sell our mons for about what we bought them for, thereby recouping our investment + taking our piddly dividend as profit?

A lot of people ITT seem to think we'll be able to do that.

But every time someone buys a mon, most of its proceeds go as dividends split between everyone else who owns that mon. So how would that work in reverse? Like Etheremon won't have the liquid ETH on hand to pay for all those sales, and I don't think they'll raid dividends for that.

>> No.5299565

>>5299540
I assume a sell order goes up, someone buys it, sending it to the contract, which then sends ETH to the seller.

>> No.5299592

>>5299311
No, but dividends are not the only reason to hold a mon. Unless this game really is a scam, you're going to be glad you bought when you did.

I think people don't fully understand what the prices and catching mean and how they'll interact with the market. "Catching" a mon is just a fancy name for GENERATING a brand new one. But you can't just generate the same mon forever. The price goes up to cover the returns, which makes it MORE DIFFICULT to generate new mons the more have been bought. I expect "catching" a mon to be a fairly rare event outside of early in the life of newly-introduced ones.

What this means is that your mons will be SCARCE. You will hold one of only a few hundred in existence, and nobody can make more without coughing up a very high price -- part of which would pay you anyway. Anybody who wants to collect every mon, anybody who wants to use your mon in battle, anybody who wants to breed or merge or evolve that specific mon, anybody who wants anything to do with it all, will have only two choices: Buy it from you, or generate a new one. You will be able to charge a high price because there is so little competition, and if they generate a new one to introduce more competition you get a cut anyway, and it becomes even harder for the next guy to generate one.

That's the biggest difference between this and CryptoKitties. If you hold a mon right now, what you hold is guaranteed to be rare. If the dev successfully implements battling and trading and everything else, your mon will be both rare and in demand. I think it's very unlikely that anyone with any mon right now will lose money on it, especially because of how skeptical everyone else is: the people who are going to be playing this game the most have not even started yet. There's a huge untapped market waiting for this game to have some semblance of gameplay and legitimacy, and you as an early adopter are the one who will benefit most when they finally join.

Pretty much, yeah. It's easy for me to say because I've already ponzi'd my investment back many times over, but I think that uncertainty is what gives this such opportunity. The market is more rational than people give it credit for. The people who make 10x on moon missions don't do it AFTER the good news is released, they do it when things are uncertain and nobody really knows for 100% sure what will happen. By the time this thing becomes a fully audited decentralized game with all the promised features, the potential gains for people getting in then would be much less than they are now.

Just from a personal standpoint, I feel like this dev is someone who definitely wants to follow through. I think that this was a project he wanted to grow slowly, but /biz/ got a hold of it and exploded it to get their dividends. He made a lot of mistakes, most of all he should have launched this on a fucking testnet instead of actual ethereum if it wasn't fully ready yet (CryptoKitties was in testing for months before releasing), but I think he he has strong motivation to follow through and there doesn't seem to be anybody else trying to do what he's doing right now.

Maybe there's another game out there in secret development that is very robust and will have more features out of the gate, but I haven't heard of it and I won't until it releases. If such a game exists, that'll probably kill this one. That in my opinion is the biggest risk right now; not the dev suiciding the contract or whatever.
