Briefcase not needed. Why not just use the elevator? Nanachi and Miety already proved this worked and by adding the uncertainty of the cartridge he was adding unknown elements to the mix.

No idea why you bring up the elevator, you can't build an elevator everywhere you want to move up. It's more efficient that way.

But my question is why bother with the most space efficient way? He still has the elevator built specifically to move the curse to one side he used on Miety and Nanachi. The cartridges are obviously useful for warding off the curse in emergencies but he was actively seeking to get the blessing at the curse so why cram her into a suitcase? And where did other cartridges come from? I thought they can't be stored long term?

The big one? Sure but there are times he would want to go somewhere that doesn't have elevator infrastructure.

Yeah, that is where the emergency cartridges could be useful. He didn't want to use Prushka in an emergency, he wanted to expose her to the curse as soon as her love for him was strong enough.

But it would have taken much less time to bring Prushka there and use it than turn her into a suitcase? This is the part I don't understand. I see no advantage to him turning her into a suitcase.

How did he know he would need to ascend rapidly in an emergency and turn the kids he had been storing presumably for years into suitcases that only have a shelf life of a few days?

I don't think so. I like the way it shows that the white whistles are the most dangerous things in the abyss and how out of place the kids are. I hope it doesn't drag on forever because they are descending very fast and I don't want it ruined by padding.
