Reposting my question from yesterday's thread since it got no traction there:

I'm experimenting with the idea of a positive carry dividend portfolio ie. investing a lump sum into a range of high yielding dividend stocks, getting a loan based on the yield of that lump sum, and reinvesting the loan into that same portfolio then paying it off and going at it again etc. I've mostly been a cryptobro so forgive me if I sound like a retard, I haven't really been into stocks since way back in the shkreli days.

Commodity oriented stocks taking up the majority or all of the portfolio would obviously be the best option with which to carry this strategy out (besides ETFs) due to many of them paying out good dividends so that's why I'm here. I would appreciate any input or opinions on this and how you feel about my concept.
It should also be noted that this wouldn't be 100% of my stock holdings either and I would also create a growth oriented side to derisk it a bit, though that's kind of obvious in itself but I feel like it should be mentioned.

Now that interesting and hilarious! Ok, bit of a story with this bit of news. Back in the early part of last spring, there was a serious leak of cyanide at Osisko's QR Mill site. The mill was put on hold indefinitely and ore started piling up at their Bonanza Ledge mine site. This was a serious problem, as their permits were not for proper mining but for a bulk test project. They could only have a specific amount of ore on site at any given time. The mine quickly overloaded their two on site and off site storage locations but couldnt mill any of the ore or send it back underground, as the Bonanza Ledge was put on mothball status due to cost over runs.

Osisko must be trying to find a way to stop the bleeding at all costs for Bonanza Ledge, they cant have that ore sitting there too long or risk a fine.

Especially with lots of other source of oil coming to market with high prices. Fracking seems like the solution to eternal crabbing, but with higher prices there are clearly better options. In high school we played that stock trading game with a fake account and I won 2nd place in my state by turning a $10k fake investment into several million dollars over a period of a few months using cyclical penny stocks that fluctuated predictably on a weekly basis.

However that was back in the 80's before computer trading made that strategy obsolete. Also it failed to take into account problems with liquidity and difficulty shorting penny stocks. And it mostly ignored broker fees and completely ignored taxes.
Irl what I did on paper doesn't work anymore, if it ever did. The principle still works, but now it's algorithms spotting the cyclical stock and making fractions of a cent on multimillion dollar investments. None of which I can do.

In order of importance:
1. predictability. Stocks that pumped and dumped on the same days each week for at least 3 weeks straight
2. cheapness. The cheaper the stock the more I could buy creating leverage
3. speed of the oscillation. A stock that pumped twice a week is better than one that pumped once a week or less
4. range of the pump. A stock that pumped 20 cents was better than one that pumped 5 cents.

The stock I actually won with pumped twice a week from a cent to about 20 cents, regular as clockwork. These cycles weren't random. They were created by investors doing in real life what I was doing on paper. I don't think that can happen anymore but it was very common in the 80's with penny stocks.

OBS is retard proof. You open it, can see clearly exactly what it's recording, make sure "enable desktop audio" is ticked so your video has sound, press "record" and play the video. End "record" when it's over and you have an mp4 file of whatever you just recorded in "My Videos" or whereever it saves to. If that's too confusing use a guide on youtube. turns out shle, source energy services, doesnt own their trucking either. could be a deal breaker for me if i was investing on a much much larger scale than tossing my pocket change in.
i can see how maintaining a fleet of rigs and a team of drivers may not be efficient on such a small scale. so from what i gather theyre doing their own "style" of dispatching, scheduling, monitoring, etc via their self proclaimed "real time analytics technology".

I like it because you're looking into who supplies the suppliers but I suspect we have enough frac sand on hand to complete the next few hundred years of drilling and I expect we'll run out of oil and gas sooner than sand. Also frac sand is the best proppant but other materials certainly work, and lately I'm hearing that the shale wells we're fracking don't require nearly as much propping as we're giving them.

but on the flip side, the feds aren't going to let oil and gas do a quick 5x, but that could certainly happen in sand or even water in the oilfields. The gov will regulate the hell out of energy costs to the consumer but don't really give a fuck about producer's costs.

Overall you might be on to something but I think silver and gold and plat group and RE are better positioned to take off in the near future, and you know I'm not really bullish on any of those. Not bullish enough to buy anyways.

Looking at SHLE for example, it's broken both the downtrend in early Oct and the larger downtrend in late Oct, but then failed to break the 200dma (green line) twice, the second being a lower high but then a higher low so it's just consolidating into a wedge. It's got a lot of support in the form of the 18, 50 and 100 dmas (red purple and yellow).
To me it looks like it's next stop is around 1.65 where the moving average supports combined with the uptrend support may save it, to then hopefully break the wedge upwards past the 200dma where the next resistance is 2.23. Otherwise it's riding that bigger downtrend line further down, but damn that's a lot of support it has to fall through first.

If I'm way off then maybe it'll bait someone into giving you a better analysis.

I still hold a ton of shares. The CEO has the mine on care and maintenance mode while he waits for silver to go higher. I’ve read a lot about mining the last couple years and apparently it’s pretty common for mining companies to basically shut down operations and do nothing during pullbacks in metals prices. That has been the case for decades. But apparently BHS is taking this to the extreme by doing all this extra busy work and needing new rounds of funding for it. The problem with investing in a mining company whose CEO believe in precious metals price suppression is that they will spend literally years just fucking around and diluting shareholders rather than sell their metals at suppressed prices. So it’s frustrating as a shareholder but I understand the CEO’s thought process. The dilution sucks and I’m down far too much to even consider selling so I’m just going to hold on in the hopes that maybe 2023 will see silver go above $30 and the company can restart mining operations and start selling concentrate.

If you're talking about working miners, we don't really track metals prices and we don't usually know at what prices the mine will shut down.

Mostly because with enormous open pit and huge underground projects, the mines run on razor thin margins so the price of metal isn't really much of a factor. Also they have huge stockpiles of cash so they can continue to operate at a loss for years if they want to. And they sell metals for steady prices over periods of years using futures contracts. And they sell metal for less than spot.

things like rising fuel prices and labor costs are way more important than metal prices unless metals severely crash, which they haven't. This is a major mistake /cmmg/ has always made. Thinking mining companies rise and fall with metals prices alone. But since almost every investor is making the same mistake it actually affects markets.

that depends on what part of the industry your involved in. Over all things are still pretty rosy across the board, the exploration sector though has cooled off. That was expected though as costs for things like jet fuel were skyrocketing so projects are just going quiet for a year or two waiting to see if costs can cool.
There are still plenty of jobs out there for people looking for work in mining, but i am not sure how long that will last.

Personally I believe in 2023. There is a 6-18 month lag on a most macro economic casues-effects, and a lot of that is just starting to materialize now and I expect will really start to snowball into next year. Megacorps cutting tens of thousands of jobs this year for example will really only impact the wider economy after at least 6 months+ when the impacts of reduced spending and debt defaults start to appear. Depending on local real estate market liquidity, interest rates could take up to a year to materialize in prices (meaning most areas are still priced at Dec 2021 interest rates). Contagion of all these processes is real but takes time to filter through the economy.

Honestly this doesn't necessarily mean that commodity prices will moon in fiat terms, as a greater recession/depression may cause a drop in all prices, but if not then I expect commodity prices to at least fare much better than alternative sectors (as has already been happening through 2022).

My thesis remains the same: if we're going into credit/fiat contraction the best place to be is bonds/fiat (second best is commodities and worst is credit-dependent markets like big tech, financials, real estate, etc), if instead this is papered over by further credit/fiat expansion (printing) the best place to be is commodities (second based is real estate, then other equity sectors) and worst will be bonds/fiat. If you don't know which outcome will happen, commodities are the best overall risk/reward, so that's where I put my money.

I don't own any shares but have been keeping an eye on Honey Badger (TUF). They have morphed into a lifestyle company of late from the looks of it and the market cap is down to only 5 million. They are doing a reverse split in the near term and likely following it up with some dilution, which may provide a good entry price (I am hoping around the 3 million market cap range). Sprott owns a bunch and they picked up some property in the Yukon in the Tintina belt, if they hit anything there it's anyone's guess where the market cap goes, but that part of the world is hot right now as much as anything PM related can be hot. If we are patient there could be a good risk/reward setting up after the split and hopefully a big raise for drilling some holes up there.
