Analysis firms (like Chaikin) predict another separate -20% drop on top of the current dump. Housing could lose half it's value by the end of all this if not more.
Real estate is actually headed for a long bear crab, something that nobody has seen before.
It will be a market where house flipping is not valuable, where you buy a house for $100k, put $50k into it, and then are forced to resell for $120k. Resellers and investors do not realize this is occurring but it already is happening in some of the hotter markets. House flipping is dead in the near future, and a lot of these investors are about to get sank in the next cycle because they are going to leverage hard thinking it's going to bounce back, essentially "slurp the dip" but for real estate, and it won't, it will continue to bear and crab, and when it comes time to pay up, they will not have the money. And their properties will fall like dominos, dumping a bunch of properties onto the market, and fucking everyone in the area over as well.

We are entering a moment in time where owning property is actually going to fuck you more than if you didn't. Hoomers and young real estate investors refuse to see this obvious writing on the wall and are going to get fucking HEEMED.

The current situation means that many of these excess plots of mcmansion land, is actually about to be worth LESS than what these real estate investment firms bought it for.
I'm talking, entire new housing developments are about to be underwater, completely abandoned, owned by the bank til they can figure out how or what to do with it.
This has already happened in my area, Ryan Homes was constructing a new plan, and they have literally just abandoned the project midway through. They built about half the houses and appears that they sold off the other plots to anyone who wanted to buy it. The last plan they built around here is literally like one of those Chinese ghost towns, nobody actually lives there. Just cardboard boxes that have a number on top to represent a place to park your money.
It's not going to zero but it's insane that more people on /biz/ aren't seeing these macro conditions.
