How best to profit from this? I've seen people stock up on event-only collectibles(cards/download codes/merch) and make a killing reselling. Any ideas? Should I sell water and deodorant out of a backpack or something?

Any collectors item exclusives will have an insane line at its booth hours before the doors open, and things like Pokemon cards already have such a strong community that you will only get away with paying, at the bare minimum, a fair market price.
I HIGHLY recommend just enjoying yourself. Comic con is stressful enough as is without worrying about being bullish with your merch
